R. Austin Freeman (1862-1943) was a prolific British detective writer who prospered during the "Golden Age of Detective Fiction" during the 1920s and 1930s. He is best known for his character Dr. Thorndyke, a forensic scientist who used minute bits of evidence to solve his cases.
