Overview

Jack Thane is a man with a very big secret. For years, he has relied upon the skills and resources that come with this secret in order to protect the people he cares about, especially the young Annabelle Drake… the only woman he has ever loved.

However, now Jack’s past is catching up with him – and it’s after Annabelle. Suddenly, Jack has gone from the predator to the prey as he strives to keep Annabelle from the very deadly clutches of some of the most powerful people in the world.

Annabelle Drake’s best friend is a six-foot-two, blonde haired, blue eyed angel in black leather with a penchant for v-twin motorcycles and shoulder holsters stocked with reliable guns. He’s a man with a dark job, a quick mind, and a body capable of just about anything. He’s also off-limits as anything but a best friend… for so many reasons.

But when the forces that normally turn to Jack for their more covert problem solving needs suddenly turn on Annabelle, she has no choice but to turn to Jack for help. Annabelle finds that being under Jack’s protection means allowing him to get closer than she’d ever planned on letting him get… and that when it comes to dangerous, those who are out to get her have nothing on the man she’s with.

Editorial Reviews

Taelor R
Sexy, suspenseful, and always surprising, Hell Bent has it all. I could not stop reading this story- every chapter pushed me further down the edge of my seat! The plot is non-stop action from the start. Annabelle is an all-star heroine: a smart, stubborn, witty, and completely relatable woman thrown into a world of assassins and conspiracy.
And Jack is... Wow. Dark, dangerous, sexy, protective, and utterly mouth watering- he brings the complexity of `right' and `wrong' to a new level.

Awsome read! Couldn't put it down! R.F. Delmarva, MD

Mystery, suspense meshed together with a bit of (G-rated) Romance and one hot British bad boy...well who could ask for more? Maybe a series...couldn't get enough of these charactors. Only gave it four stars because I would have enjoyed more indepth bedroom scene.

    Very much Enjoyed!

This is a long detail packed novel and has a way of keeping you turning each page. I enjoyed this story and found myself wondering how the first section of the book was going to finally tie in towards the end.

The author did a great job of giving you details and keeping the plot moving with action packed moments. There was a whole lot going on in this novel and some very intricate characters that she did a great job keeping straight.

The only thing that kept this book from being a 5 star in my opinion was the softness of the romance and the few things that didn't seem to get answered at the end. Bella and Jack are a great couple, and I wanted to feel and see more of the romance between them. They dealt with real life issues, but near the end, you had to assume that things were settled because no explanation was really ever given.

I loved the intricacy of the motorcycles and the details of them riding. It was obvious that there was a love for the feel of the wind and the vibration between the legs on that.

All in all, I really enjoyed it and hope there is more to come along the line of this story.

A fun read that is consistently drug down by editing problems

Such a great idea, but executed with some major problems. Complete errors and typos, descriptions that repeat ("his accent was so deep!" and "his accent was thick!" then "his accent got deeper" and later "his accent was even deeper!") and then contradict themselves later, and the most annoying habit -- skipping descriptions altogether by using pop culture shorthand ("it was just like in that movie Labrynth where..." or "he looked and sounded exactly like Sam Elliot - in face, his name was Sam!" or "His sexy accent sounded like Sean Bean" and later "His friend sounded even more like Sean Bean!"). There are character problems, too, like when the heroine is untroubled by some revelations ("Oh, he's an assassin...") and even remarks to herself about how calm she can be, but then flips her lid and jumps out of a moving car over a much lesser revelation. After being that livid, she casually makes up with the hero, but then quickly goes back to being mad at him.

These books and this author have great potential to be fun reads, but they need a really strong editor to tighten up the descriptions and consistency. They are fun and creative and adventurous, but hurt by the uneven quality.

    Very immersive writer.

The perspective used and care taken by this author, when creating scenes, allows you to be fully immersed in her stories. I spent most of a day in her different works and was consistently impressed. Very few authors have this skill at the level seen in this book and others by this writer. I would recommend the "Big Bad Wolf" series from this author, as well. ( this is my first review) am~

Why is the book rated so well

I 'm on page 683 out of 1386 and I find this book the most boring I have read in a long time. I hate to abandon a book but I must! The plot is slow and sluggish and the characters are not portrayed in an interest enough manner for you to care what happens. I am done. I'm deleting this book now.

    INCREDIBLE!!

I have read all of Heather Killough's books so believe me when I tell you this is by far one of the best ones!! The book is over 1300 pgs and is only a dollar truly can't beat the price. Annabelle and Jack are such great characters, their relationship is so unique and it takes your breath away at times. The story has so much action its like nothing I've read before, every twist and turn in it had me on the edge of my seat wanting more... Make sure you read her Big Bad Wolf series as well :)

I must be weird because I seriously did not like this book.

Boring. Slow. No romance. Weird. Choppy. Just didn't like it.

    Highly Entertaining Read

Loved this read; it goes quickly, and the characters are fun to follow. Good mystery plot; keeps the reader guessing. Could have done with less environmental descriptions IMHO.

    Yet Another Winner

This author continues to impress me, which is no easy task. The characters are rich, and I would love to see them develop into a series. Give us more Jack and Bella, PLEASE! The plot is engaging, and just as with her other books, I had to read it in one sitting. If you are like me in that regard, read this one on the weekend or you will be missing work the next day due to lack of sleep.

I have now read everything I could find that Ms. Killough-Walden has published so far, and am anxiously awaiting her upcoming new releases.

    Holy crap!

I think this book was amazing. But i hate how people cant just read a book and enjoy it, instead they have to pick at every little thing. Just saying.

    Worth it

If you have read any of heathers other books, your probably thinking 'where are all the wolves?' There are none! But dont skip this book because of it, you will be seriously missing out. I agree that the editor should have tightened up this story, but its still a great read. New and fun, a little more action than romance but a great break from the norm. Read it!
