Hell On Wheels By Karen Kelley delivers the romance along with the heart pounding suspense. Bounty Hunter Cody Carlyle has always been a solo player. She hadn¿t had the easiest of upbringing with no father and an alcoholic mother. To say she has some trust issues is putting it mildly. A fellow bounty hunter Josh makes her feel things she has never felt before in her life. But can she trust a know player. Josh Pierce makes a deal with Cody to track a major skip together. Josh figures spending 24/7 with Cody and hopefully sleeping with her will get her out of his mind. This only backfires on them both. As they get closer to their prey their feelings and desires take over. Cody¿s struggles with her past have kept her heart under lock and key. But Josh¿s persistent caring and easygoing ways are breaking down her walls one by one. Hell On Wheels really touched my heart. We all have things from our past that affect us in the now. This book is deliciously steamy and very emotionally satisfying. You can¿t go wrong with a Karen Kelley book. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Cody Carlyle is a bounty hunter, albeit a sexy, hot looking one, who is self-sufficient, independent and will do anything it takes to bring in her skip. Josh Pierce is an ex-undercover cop turned bounty hunter, who although admires Cody for her skills and attitude cannot keep from thinking how he would like to seduce her. Cody wants no part of this as she doesn't want to be another notch on Josh's belt, although whenever she is around him she has a hard time to keep her mind on the job and not on other things. But she knows that he is not into commitment and certainly not the 'L' word, and she secretly wants the whole thing - a family, love, stability - all things she has never had in her life. Finally Cody decides that the best thing is to have a one night stand and get all thoughts of Josh from her head, besides he could never be as hot as she envisions......or could he? Josh and Cody soon discover that once is not enough in fact it does not even take off the edginess when they around each other. Then they team up to bring in a dangerous accused murderer and the dangers of the situation makes Josh realize that he wants more than one night stands - should they live to see an end to the situation they find themselves in - and it scares the daylights out of him more than the danger they are entrapped in. The big question to be answered is how does he get Cody to accept that he means forever. This is a cleverly written hot read, humours in places, with action packed suspense. It makes for a great read and has you wanting to keep turning pages from start to finish. This newest book of Karen's is a sexy, sassy read that has your attention from the very beginning. It also shows how some things and people can change ...... I would highly recommend the book. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. The plot in itself is exceptional two bounty hunters having to work together to bring in their mark while trying desperately to deny the attraction between them. One of the many great things about Karen Kelley is that her writing is so funny readers can¿t help but laugh out loud. Cody has her issues, and she covers her insecurities with sarcasms. Josh isn¿t put off by this she¿s a puzzle to him, and he can¿t stop himself from wanting to know everything about her. The chemistry between them sizzles and that makes their story fun to read. Hell on Wheels is a great book I can¿t wait to see what Karen Kelley comes up with next. Jaymi - Fallen Angel ReviewsWas this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Karen Kelley¿s newest book HELL ON WHEELS takes readers on a charged ride as two bounty hunters embark on a dangerous mission in search of a wanted man. Will they lose their hearts along the way? ***** When Cody Carlyle chases a skip into a dark, damp, rat-infested alley, the last thing she expects is for him to have a friend with him, least-of-all a friend with a gun. When Josh Pierce shows up with an even bigger gun and saves her from serious injury, she is begrudgingly appreciative. This won¿t be the last time the two are brought together they don¿t have to spend much time in each other¿s company before they realize a strong sexual attraction that leaves them both weak. Cody isn¿t emotionally strong enough for an intense relationship. She is used to looking out for herself as well as supporting her mother, who has her own self-destructive weaknesses. When she and Josh team up to go on the road looking for their latest bad guy, there¿s more at stake than just the apprehension of the skip their lives and their hearts are on the line.***** Josh has always been impressed with Cody and her ability to take care of herself. He has seen her bruised and bloodied after bringing in a skip and he still thinks that she is the hottest, most beautiful woman he has ever seen. Josh begins a determined seduction of Cody and finds himself more than a little pleased when she agrees to partner with him in the pursuit of an accused murderer. When unexpected danger arises, Josh begins to wonder if they¿ll live to see another day and he realizes that he just might want more from Cody than a quick fling.***** Karen Kelley gives readers an exciting romance that lacks nothing as it delivers humor, action, suspense, and an abundance of sensuality. Cody¿s character is written with incredible realism¿complete with insecurities and flaws that make her human. Cody¿s façade of being a cold, calculating bounty hunter is transparent to Josh. He sees that she has suffered emotionally and is willing to take some of the burden off her shoulders. While Josh is shamelessly attracted to Cody and may have initially wanted a simple sexual relationship, he soon wants more, much more, with her, but convincing her that they belong together may be difficult.***** HELL ON WHEELS showcases Karen Kelley¿s superb writing skills which grow stronger with each new release. This review comes with a high recommendation it definitely belongs, and will remain, on my keeper shelf.***** Courtesy Laurie/Romance JunkiesWas this review helpful? In Fort Worth bounty hunter Cody Carlyle likes the freedom and money her job provides her, but also fantasizes of being part of a large loving family something she has never had as she is estranged from her mother. Her bounty hunter peer Josh Pierce desires Cody, but though they share sex, she does not give him her all instead he feels she used him for a one night stand. Ironically that is his history yet he wants her in his life permanently though this contradicts his philosophy of no commitments no relationship issues. Cody knows if she allows Josh any deeper into her heart, he will destroy her. She already was attracted to him before they shared a bed. Still she would not mind a second one night stand perhaps even a third and fourth etc., but protect her heart she must because he is the one male who could break it. --- The key to this fun contemporary romance is Cody, is an intelligent courageous bounty hunter who is not portrayed as some comic book superheroine doing impossible deeds. She and Josh make a wonderful teaming as neither trusts in anyone love hurts so avoid caring for someone else. Though Cody reconciles too easily with her mom for someone who has no faith in anyone (admittedly a minor sidebar), HELL ON WHEELS is a terrific character driven study. --- Harriet KlausnerWas this review helpful? Cody is an independent, self sufficient sexy bounty hunter. Josh is not only a bounty hunter but also a sexy package of looks and strength all wrapped up in one. The thing is when Cody & Josh are together they turn up a heat enough to light up the entire state of Texas. Both of them have a big chip on their shoulders, also they are as stubborn as a mule, but they soon discovered that fighting the attraction between them is useless, the more time they spend together the more they want each other. In order to catch a mayor skip they decide to combine their minds and efforts and that took them on the ride of their life. They have to learn to deal with the past and all the baggage it entails. Would they be able to work together and stay unattached or will they surrender to their attraction and stay together? Karen wrote a really sassy, sexy story with characters that will make you laugh and will keep you at the edge of your seat. This is one book that will snare your attention from start to finish and will keep you turning pages all along, you really do not want to miss it.Was this review helpful? Cody Carlyle is a bounty hunter and the lawless better watch out. Her only problem is fellow bounty hunter Josh Pierce and his determination to get her into his bed. While Cody knows you never mix business and pleasure she figures the only way to get Josh out of her system is to give him one night of incredible pleasure. Thing is one night is not enough and the two people who are used to bringing down hardened criminals without blinking, is finding that the one thing that scares them is each other. Karen Kelley is a wonderful writer who has created two characters that readers won¿t soon forget. The passion that lights up between Cody and Josh is hot enough to burn the pages. Love scenes are filled with sensual steam that will have you running for a fan or a cold shower. Karen Kelley has written a book that is sure to be remembered and a definite keeper on the shelf. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
