Tilly Chalmers loves her new dream job in a security firm owned by the dangerously attractive Heller. But what is she to make of his great secrecy or the strange group of people who live with him? After her first two assignments go disastrously wrong, and with a ruthless competitor on the scene, Tilly must decide if she has what it takes to survive the rough world of security work.
Being someone that searches through the many free books available for the Nook, I have stopped expecting much from them. Here I was pleasantly surprised with how good this book was. I was pulled in right from the beginning and ended up finishing this book in a few days just because I couldn't make myself put it down. The plot was original and well written. I would recommend this book to all of you out there that keep getting bought down by all those free books and are on the verge of giving up on them. This one will renew your faith that there are some books out there worth looking for.

I read the book Blood Ties first and enjoyed it so much that I looked to see what other books this author had available. I am waiting on pins and needles for the sequels in both series! I generally have a hard time reading romances with "tough" women. Not that I like weak or flaky heroines more because I love having strong lead males taking care of likable women. The author was able to make her characters stand out and be not only physically strong but emotionally also. The men are completely strong yet loving = yummy! JD Nixon -I need those sequels so please, please continue writing!

If you love Stephanie Plum then you will absolutely love Heller & Matilda (Tilly)! This series had me laughing, crying, and gripping my nook from tension! I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

In my experience people usually get what they pay for. Although I have found some very enjoyable cheap and free books, I try not to set my expectations too high. Many free books I have grabbed have been filled with so manyt x% b n grammatical and spelling errors that it distracts immensly from the story, and often the stories and character developments are not very impressive, but I do continue to support new authors. I could not have been more surprised by this book!!!!!!! It is amazingly well written and edited, creative, funny and thrilling at the same time. I cannot sing my praises loudly enough for this author and this book, and I cannot wait to read the rest!!!!!

I wish they would put ratings on their books! I don't appreciate sex and language in what I read.

This was a great intro to a new series. Much lighter than the Blood Ties series (which was awesome too). The heroine in this story is funny, goofy, kicks butt, and did I say goofy? The hottie is Viking worthy. After reading this you'll never think of fruit the same way again! I read it in one night laughing all the way.

How lame and silly! This is NOT Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum "on steroids," as I read in one review. Evanovich writes with wit and tongue-in-cheek humor, AND, she leaves something to the reader's imagination. That's a whole lot more entertaining and sexually intriguing than the drivel spelled out so coarsely in Heller. I won't be getting any more J.D. Nixon books. It's a shame reviewers can't leave ZERO stars!

JD Nixon has a style of writing that just captivates you and keeps you reading. Her characters are complex, yet tough, witty, funny and keep you wanting more.
Everytime you think you know what is going to happen, there is a new twist. Everytime you think "I will just finish this chapter, then I can go to sleep" there is something that keeps you going.
Tons of humor, lots of Oz slang that will keep most Americans scratching their heads (until they figure it our...lol) and a plot that just keeps delivering.
This book and its sequels are a must read. Just not when you have to go to work the next day!!!

Tired of the same 'ol same 'ol? Have your books become repetitious, predictale and BORING?? Then I strongly suggest you read All the Heller books currently available, and you will probably read them as I did, one right after the other. You will not be disappointed. Where has this author been? Whay hasn't a major publisher discovered her? What she's writing beats the pants off the so called popular authors of our time. So glad I found her. WELL WORTH EVERY SECOND OF READING. Thank you JD for Tilly, Heller, Niq and the lovely Daniel....so happy to get to know them

For a free book this was really good and had very original characters, plots and settings. Its a combination of rommance, mystery, and suspense.

It was different from any other book/situation I've read about. Go the follow ups after reading this and am awaiting the new one due out in March 2012. I little too much sex - but I can deal with that.

Couldn't put it down and bought the other two in this series and felt the same way about them as well. The language can get a bit rough, but loved the story line!

JD Nixon draws us in quickly and doesn't let go with Tillie's character, humor, devotion to friends & family. Good for anyone who's ever changed career fields or been in over her head. I have read Heller's Revenge & Heller's Girlfriend. Book 4 in process now. I also read JD Nixon's Little Town Series- the first "Blood Ties" also free. Unlike some series, there is personal & professional growth, fresh situations. Visit JD's blog and website for Aussie glossary and trivia on both her series. Will read anything she writes for the foreseeable future. Also try Shelly Fredman "No Such Thing As a Secret" and sequels now on Nook.
