About the Author

Dr. Jennifer Sturgeon has dedicated her professional career to the field of early childhood education. She started out as a kindergarten teacher and later transitioned into a role as an early childhood special education teacher. Her career path then led her into leadership positions, where she served as an Early Intervention Supervisor and an Executive Director of Head Start. In those roles she had opportunities to support early childhood educators and engage with a wide range of families. Currently, Dr. Sturgeon is an Assistant Professor of Practice and the Early Childhood Special Education/Early Intervention Program Coordinator at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. In addition to her work at the university, she provides training and coaching to home visitors and other early childhood professionals.
