PRODUCING THE LLLLL SOUND, LESSON 2: Place the mirror in front of you and the child. Tell the child to listen carefully and watch you. Open your mouth, raise your tongue tip to your palate just behind your front teeth and say, lllll. Concentrate on making the lllll sound by holding your tongue tip behind your upper front teeth for now. Repeat a few times.

Ask the child to look in the mirror. Then ask him to say lllll with you. Together say lllll a few times. Allow the child to take a turn at the activity he selected. Then you take a turn. If the child makes a sound that sounds more like "lwun" or "wuh" see Troubleshooting. If his lllll sounds good, continue on to Step Three.
