Rachel and Eli are such an awesome couple. I love that Eli is persistent and doesn't let Rachel get away from him. I love the Divine Creek Ranch series.

Okay.. first off I am giving it two stars because basically it's

Okay.. first off I am giving it two stars because basically it's two books. (Two books that should have been just one, but that's different quibble altogether.) So to be fair, I am actually giving each book only one star. Call it lazy or whatever you will. I just didn’t see the need to write more than one assessment. I am not sure really where to begin; there were so many parts of these books I did not enjoy, that this review could end up being as long as one of Rainier’s books. LOL
Despite the many negative reviews the first book received, Divine Grace, I read it anyway and chalked it up to an author’s first born. Like a newborn babe, the book was unsteady, a little heavy on the drool and had a few rather unpleasant accidents, but I figured like all adolescents, it needed time to learn to crawl before it could run. So, I bucked up and bought the next two books in the series. (Again, I must say that I good editor could have been well used and the books could have very easily been narrowed down to just one.) What I had not bargained for was that it would be page after page of crawling. The books are just so slow! There’s no build up, no conflict, no wondering of whether or not the two star crossed lovers will ever reconcile their differences and become one. Immediately Eli and Rachel are madly, desperately and completely in love with one another right out of the gate. Although it is “hinted” in the book that she had refused him for months, it’s only a passing sentence. Almost like an afterthought. I would have liked to have read about those refusals, but instead I am force feed the most overly sweet gruel of the century. I never thought I would get tired of hearing a man call his woman baby or angel, but, these books made me reconsider my stance on that. The sex is hot in the beginning, but it’s also very repetitive and as redundant as the first book. Minus the “horse porn”. Apparently Rainier decided to stable those kinds sexual exploits to which I have to say, THANK YOU.
I really wanted to like these books, but I just couldn’t get over the sticky sweetness. I need a little more conflict and a guy that will occasionally scratch his balls and show some grit. For me, a big deal made over a very long ago ex-boyfriend just seems juvenile and reeked of drama queen. It wasn’t a well thought out conflict and was resolved way too easily. I really can’t give it more than one star. It wasn’t even an okay read. I had a hard time getting into it, I flipped through more pages than I have ever done and at the end of the story, instead of feeling saddened to see it come to an end, I was just relieved.
