Overview

Vivien Manning, the notorious Mistress Matchmaker, is tired. Tired of the parties, tired of the lovers, tired of being her. So she decides to leave London behind once and for all and start a whole new life.

But before she goes, she must tie up some loose ends, and makes a list that includes a man she's never been fully able to let go—Benedict Greystone.

Benedict was broken when Vivien broke off their affair years ago. When she comes back into his life—and his bed—he isn't certain of anything except the power of their desire.

But as Vivien moves closer to disappearing forever, both of them begin to question if the past can be overcome and if love might be the one loose end that cannot be neatly tied up.

—Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews on An Introduction to Pleasure

“This second book in Jess Michaels’ Mistress Matchmaker is even better than the first, if that is possible. […] This is a well-rounded, interesting historical that isn’t exactly tame and demure. I can’t wait to see who else comes under Vivien’s tutorage!”

I really enjoyed reading Her Perfect Match. We finally get to read Vivian’s story! I’ll try very hard to not give anything away in this review (phew, this is going to be difficult). :)

The opening drew the reader right into the action and excitement of Vivian’s world, but also set-up the inciting incident that would carry us through the rest of the book. From the start, I wanted to know what was so special about Benedict that Vivian would be thinking about him at time such as [in the opening]. I loved the push-and-pull between them and rooted for them right from the start. The twist about 60% into the book had me reading with my mouth opened for a good five minutes. It was brilliant and completely understandable given the circumstances. And of course, the ending was “aww”-inducing and heart-warming, even if it was a little rushed.

There are a few nit-picky things that threw me off just a bit. I mentioned earlier that I wanted to know what was so special about Benedict -- I do think that question could have been developed a little more. I never got a truly satisfactory answer to that question beyond “they loved each other.” And the reveal for why the couple split up in the first place had almost no foreshadowing and probably should have come earlier than 80% into the book. The dialogue was appropriately formal (the book is set in the Regency period after all), but this formality carried through to the bedroom scenes. I found this level of formality, especially between these two characters given their background and history, just a tad too much.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Her Perfect Match and cannot wait for the next book from Jess Michaels!

Jess Michaels does it again folks! This book was by far my favorite out of the series. Vivien has been a character in each book. She has been someone you want to find happiness and above all I really wanted to know more about her . How she became a mistress matchmaker?

In Vivien's story you learn so much about her, things I don't think the reader will expect. A good surprise. She has a past and seeks closure. She also has things she wishes to do before leaving the business for good.

And Benedict is the man of all men. He's charming, handsome, and address Vivien. They are the perfect couple. Why it took so long for them to realize it, well you will have to read to find out.

    Great read!

I loved this series and I'm looking forward to reading all the other Jess Michael books as well! After Vivian has helped others find love, I wanted so bad for her to find love as well. I was so pleased with the ending and how it tied the books together. I was actually a little sad to finish it.

    Disappointed

Love this author and the first two books but very disappointed in this book! Nothing exciting happened, did not feel the emotions, lots of sex scenes.

My favirite of the Mistress Matchmaker series!

Vivian & Benedict were a great romance story (lots of good steamy scenes too!) Vivian was a strong 'Mistress Matchmaker' that seemed too controlled, too untouched in the first 2 books, but was loyal and protective of her friends. But there was a running theme of detachment in her. It was nice to funally see her surrender herself to a man that loved and wanted her. A nice wrap up to this short series!
I did enjoy that the books in this series were over 500 pages on my nook, were under $5 each and a good fast read! My favorite kind of reading.

"If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're

"If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with" could be a mantra for our heroine, Vivien, in this book.  The book begins with a hot, steamy mmf menage to celebrate her birthday.  During the menage she realizes that while her flesh is being pleased her heart is not in it and something is missing from her life.  The author does an excellent job of turning what could have been construed as a harlot into a woman with many dimensions and giving the reader insight to see past her actions to the woman underneath.  Vivien is a mistress and has been known as the mistress matchmaker.  However, two of her matches involving her closest friends developed into marriage.  It makes Vivien wonder if true love really exists and each time her mind conjures up images of her last protector, Benedict.

Benedict is a member of an aristocratic family with noble blood lines.  He confessed his love for Vivien 3 years ago only to have her throw it back in his face and break off the relationship.  He hasn't been able to forget Vivien or move on to another relationship even with the impassioned pleas of his brother and mother to get married to a suitable woman.

Vivien and Benedict are reunited at an event and Vivien finds herself unable to extend one last invitation to her bedchamber.  Benedict accepts and the two are once again in a tempestuous affair.  This time Vivien is determined to get Benedict out of her system, leave London, and begin her life afresh in another country unbeknownst to Benedict.  But--true love---changes many plans.  Despite Benedict's brother asking her to leave his brother so that he won't be disregarded by society and disowned by his family.  Vivien realizes that she loves him and being with him would be to his detriment.  So she determines to leave town immediately without telling him.  However, our noble hero is one step ahead and manages to save the day and the relationship just in time.

This was such a sweet, sweet story of two people that love each other so much but life seems to continue to get in the way.  It is a story of love, acceptance, and hope.  It's one of those stories that makes your heart absolutely melt.  A hero that gives up everything for the one he loves, and a heroine that refuses to be held to the mistakes of her past to experience real love.  The characters were multi-layered and the plot contained numerous twists to keep the story moving along at a steady pace.  This was a quick read that I had to finish because I became so invested in the lives of these characters.  The ultimate gift from the author is an epilogue where we see that true love indeed conquers all.

Jess Michaels is a literary goddess and now one of my very favorite authors!!!!  I believe this book is the very first historical romance book where the female lead character doesn't sit at home twiddling her thumbs, celibate, and bemoaning her fate to live without her one true love.  Bravo to Ms Michaels for taking a well executed risk that sets readers up for the read of a lifetime.

I was anticipating Vivien's story since I read her in the first

I was anticipating Vivien's story since I read her in the first book, An Introduction to Pleasure. Now, reading the first chapter blew me away. It introduced us to the depraved life of Vivien and how she has been living her life year after year after year. The first scene actually made me empathize with her as she was trying to find fulfillment in her life. Considering all the parties and sexual conquests, she was getting fed up with it. We also get to revisit the previous couples of the other two books and in a way, it makes Vivien want something that they have - love.

I have to say that this is the best book in the series. I love how Vivien struggles to finish her list before she leaves her life as a mistress for good. I especially love how Benedict becomes entwined with the whole situation - with him helping her fulfull her wishes and not knowing the true reason why she was doing it.

Benedict and Vivien's relationship is explosive. I could feel the heat simmering between the pages (or in my case, the reader - LOL) everytime they meet. And although lust is the driving force of their relationship, I could see how Vivien would fall for Benedict.

I did have a problem with how Benedict's character was written. I didn't quite think of him as the perfect libertine/bad boy for our Heroine. I thought that with him not getting over Vivien when she left him was pretty uncharacteristic of an alpha male. I would have expected him not to pine (sort of) for Vivien - there was a part in the book where he said he loved her in his thoughts even when they just barely got back together again. True, his love may not have faded but I thought that wasn't too realistic.

On the other hand, I thought Vivien was the alpha in this story (I know I am contradicting myself but whatever). I love her bravery and her will to face her fears and revisit her past; how she took charge with her life and become the independent woman that she is. And yes, I did cry when Vivien and Benedict had their HEA.
