A great contemporary romance that will have you laughing, blushing, and smiling the whole way through! The story is well written, and has a nice flow about it, very easy to submerse yourself into and just enjoy! Jill Shalvis does not disappoint with this one! Highly recommend!

This book was great! I cried and laughed very hard. Mia is a woman running from her past she definitely started from the bottom and kept running never looking back until someone she never thought she would meet arrives in her life. Kevin is a good guy trying to do good things but family always seems to get in the way making his life a little crazy. Mia and Kevin are a mess but together they are cute finding solace in each others arms

I loved this story. The premise was cute, but after I got to know the characters, I found myself rooting for each of them with no thought to the outcome of the competition. I loved the interaction between Mia and Kevin and the steamy, hot sex they had. It was also nice to see Mia become comfortable about her upbringing. The developing relationship between Mia and Hope was particularly touching and Mike mature was great. Although Kevin was a good and caring man, he went completely overboard in his role as guardian to Mike but it was nice that he recognized that he needed to correct the mistakes that were made. His learning to accept that his goals were not their goals was a touching thing to see and I cheered his character growth on this point and impatiently waited to see if he could get past his personal stumbling block to a satisfying relationship with Mike. This book grabbed me within the first three chapters and hung on right to the end. Pick up a copy for yourself and see if you don't agree that it's a satisfying and rewarding read. Kudos to Jill Shalvis for another well written book.

Gah! Mia is just like me! I hated reading about it! LOL! I gotta have control and I keep my emotions at bay as well. But it sure made me think about it! I didn’t do booty call though! Mia has her life all lined up since her less than ideal childhood. She has everything she ever wanted or does she? She has a great job and her assistant, Tess, is really her only friend. But even Tess is kept from the knowledge of her childhood life. Mia has even lost her southern accent so people will see how she is now and never know that she came from a trailer home.   Mia has a new neighbor whom she brought cookies to. Cookies that were made by her friend Tess. But her neighbor, Kevin, doesn’t need to know that.  Then she returns for a little booty call with him and although Mia is usually a one night stand person, she keeps going back for more. Kevin is drool worthy; and it isn’t just his good looks but his kindness and desire to help others.  Kevin keeps letting Mia in but Mia keeps him at arm’s length running off after said booty calls. Kevin doesn’t want just that; he wants more. He wants Mia to open up to him. But she can’t, she doesn’t know how. Then her niece shows up at her door as a runaway from her sister’s home. The one and only sister who wasn’t very nice to Mia growing up.  So Mia gets time with her niece, Hope, and finds out she is a lot like Mia and falls in love with her. Then at Mia’s work someone keeps sabotaging her work files and even makes a fire in her trash can in her office and Mia loses an eyebrow from it.  And then Tess, who is everything to Mia, gets laid off.  So, now, Mia’s perfectly coiffured life isn’t so perfect now. And things just get worse.  So, what is Mia to do? She just goes for more booty call from Kevin. But Kevin is getting tired of it and is falling hard for her. Mia is funny and she is caring too. Hope is just as funny. I love their conversations. I love Hope’s little situations she creates. She is genius. I am glad none of my kids had her skills. Well maybe my youngest might, she is showing signs. Ha! Mia learns how to open up, but it doesn’t come easy or without some repercussions.  Kevin has a brother Mike who is hard of hearing and hasn’t grown up yet due to Kevin constantly enabling him.  This book is so cute, funny, and it has aha moments too, for all.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Trusting the heart is the most sensual risk of all With a fab career, a salary that keeps her in her favorite designers, and her own condo, Mia Appleby has everything she dreamed of as a poor little girl gazing out the window of her mom's trailer. Her old life is completely gone. That is until she has a one-night stand with her handsome new neighbor, Kevin McNight. She ends it before she totally falls for him. But Kevin isn't like other men and won't let Mia off that easy. And neither will her runaway Goth niece, Hope, who inconveniently shows up at her doorstep with hopes for a new life. Now, Mia must keep her new fan club at a safe distance-before they burst her fairytale facade. REVIEW: Jill Shalvis hit it right on the mark with this book! It has every ingredient needed for a sexy and thrilling romance. I loved watching Mia fall in this book. She put up a fight, don’t get me wrong, and she made Kevin work for every inch she gave (pun intended) but it was a well thought out story that showed not only the vulnerability with these two, but also their strength to go after what they want, and when they had to admit they were wrong. It’s a lesson in life many couples should follow and the sweetness of the ending truly tugged at your heart strings. I loved Hope in this as well and truly hope to see her in the future. Her Sexiest Mistake is a book you don’t want to pass up. This is also one that will have you laughing out loud and wincing when they ALL make absolute fools of themselves. Have no fret though, Jill Shalvis saves the day in the end. Five out of five stars for a very sexy read.

Jill Shalvis at her very best. We have it all in this book, great heroine with issues, her niece who also has some maturing to do. Our Hero is everything a Shalvis hero is.. stunningly handsome, he's kind, selfless loves his brother, and drives a motorcycle! What more could you ever want. I thoroughly enjoyed this romance.

4.5 Stars Review In Her Sexiest Mistake by Jill Shalvis, Mia Appleby's humble beginnings haunt her no matter how hard she tries, even though she's managed to turn herself into a successful and driven woman with nerves of steel. Her job in marketing fulfills her...defines her. Or so she thinks. Once she spends a night of bliss with her neighbor, Kevin McKnight, and then another, Mia is shaken down to her Manolos with her reaction to his charm. He has her feeling and wanting more for the first time in, well, forever. Mia's closed off past is forced into the forefront, and much to her shock, Kevin is adjusting better to the changes than she is. Her day-to-day life has to adjust drastically and she becomes less certain if the path she's taking will truly make her happy down the road. Mia is not used to second-guessing herself. Nor is she used to spending more than one night with a guy because getting attached is not an option. Kevin seems to change her rules every time she's with him and Mia has to figure out just want to do about that. Science teacher Kevin McKnight is a person who loves to help others any way he can. From his brother Mike, to his students, and the kids at the teen center, he has his hands full. The earth-shattering night he spends with Mia was just what he needed to relax. But pretty soon she's all Kevin can think of and he finds himself turning into a casual friend with benefits. He wants more from his beautiful neighbor--as in a real relationship. Mia is closed off emotionally so it's up to Kevin to try to change her mind about what love and romance can truly mean. Her Sexiest Mistake is a gem of a book by the one-and-only Jill Shalvis. Originally released in 2005, this has been reissued for our reading pleasure. And speaking of pleasure...did you see the new book cover??? Wow! I have become a huge fan of Jill Shalvis' writing over the past few years and hadn't discovered this book yet. I'm happy to say that even though this was released several years ago, her writing style was just as well developed as it is now. This had her trademark comical, witty banter and self-deprecating jokes while still highlighting the growth in our character's personal relationships. There's just as much attention to detail in each scene as I've come to expect from her stories. I especially loved Kevin's sarcastic tee shirts and Mia's conversations with Hope. So funny! I found Mia and Kevin to be the perfect counterbalance to each other, as their personalities seem so opposite: he's giving and laid-back with an air of mischief about him, while she is wound up tight, works nonstop and is called the Ice Queen at work. They have incredible chemistry together that neither can seem to walk away from, even though Mia tries to fight it with all her might. I'll admit that this story had me a little crazy with the "will they/won't they work things out" but the ending definitely makes up for it. I highly recommend Her Sexiest Mistake. Whether you're a fan of Jill Shalvis, or just a lover of Contemporary Romance, I think you'll enjoy this fun and steamy story.

Jill Shalvis is pretty consistent for writing great romance books. This one wasn't my favorite, but it wasn't bad by any means. I give this one 3.5 stars. I liked Mia, but she annoyed me a little bit with her attitude regarding her past. I applaud her for making something of herself and being better, but what I don't like is her holier than thou attitude that she sports now. We all have our pasts and that is what helps shape us into what we are today. You should never be ashamed of your roots. They are what they are and anyone who shuns you because of where you came from doesn't deserve you anyway. Okay, that's my rant. Aside from that, the book was good. I loved Kevin. I loved his patience and smexiness, I even loved his brother. I thought the storyline was good. On to the next Jill Shalvis book.:) *Copy provided via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Should state this as being thus. Had to look up on ebay, seemed very familiar and sure enough it is a reprint of 2005. Buyer beware!

I think that this is an ok story and that there was a lot parts in the story that are mixed up and confusing like when in flashbacks when she's driving I couldn't tell who was mia and who was the aunt .and other parts of mia pov

I keep trying to like Jill Shalvis's books, but I can't. This one was even worse than the others. The "heroine" in this book was incredibly unlikable. Terrible.

Mia is so interesting and seems hard-headed after first but then lets her real self come out. This book is about life and love. Kevin sounds such a sweet guy and for putting up with Mia-she is lucky. This book has you thinking about her next move in every chapter.

Mia Appleby is more than satisfied with where she is in life. She has a great paying job, a beautiful home, and she's states away from her mother, her sister, and the trailer home life that she grew up in. After waking up in bed with her gorgeous neighbor, Kevin McNight following a night of toe-curling passion, she can't believe that he's offended that it was nothing more to her than a one night stand, or was it? Mia finds herself thinking about Kevin a good deal of the time. Mia is determined to remain as far as possible from life as she knew it growing up. Kevin thinks that Mia is shallow and self-centered and when her niece Hope, who has run away from home, comes to stay with Mia he can't believe that the two of them are total strangers to each other, which only reinforces his negative thoughts of her. Mia has no idea how to handle her troubled niece, and is thankful that Kevin, being a high school teacher, understands the workings of the teenage mind. Kevin understands much more than that, he also knows all too well how to unleash Mia's every passion and the two of them can hardly keep their hands off of each other. Kevin is also dealing with a troubled family member, his deaf brother has no self-esteem thanks to their abusive father and Kevin is trying to help him get on the right track, repeatedly having to get him out of trouble. Mia needs Kevin and Hope needs Mia much more than either is willing to admit. Kevin wants to be there for Mia but convincing her that he wants more than a few quick interludes might prove to be his most difficult endeavor. The relationship between Mia and Hope is excellently written. They both have been deprived of the most basic shows of affection or love, and watching their relationship mesh is heartwarming to say the least. Experiencing Kevin's attempts at breaching Mia's self-protecting walls is a real delight. Jill Shalvis captures human emotion as few authors can. She pulls you into a book from the beginning and can frustrate you because you can't read fast enough. This is a wonderful book for anyone who loves a sensual romance laced with humor and lighthearted fun as well as an intriguing relationship study. I recommend this book and suggest that you do yourself a favor and order it immediately. I would give it 6 stars if possible.
