How do you avoid confusing them with poisonous species? What parts of the plants--leaves, flowers, roots, fruits or bark--are garthered and how do you use them?

I came across this book on the bargain table during one of my frequent visits to Barnes & Noble and after using it for a couple of years, wondered why it is such an obscure find. Of all the herb books in my library, this is the one I commonly refer to most. The orderliness of the content allows me to find information quickly and efficiently. The charts in the back of the book are colorfully eye appealing as well as extremely functional. They are organized according to ailments and diseases common to the various parts of the body.

A multitude of clear photographs make this book a more reliable source than those with sketches. Though there are no pictures of the "look-alike" plants, it does give detailed descriptions of differences where applicable. This is a great family reference tool that doesn't gather much dust at my house.
