Meet the Author

Jeanne learned to sew as a young girl from her mom and her Auntie Alice. She grew up sewing garments for herself, and then moved on to sewing for her five children, often creating something original and unique. Quilting was a natural progression from garment sewing and continues to fill a need to create. Time to spend on other hobbies, such as basket weaving and woodworking, is becoming rarer as the number of grandchildren grows and work commitments increase. However, there is always time to sew.

Shelley has been quilting for well over 20 years, having started when "quilting wasn't cool!" Both her grandmothers quilted in different styles and each passed on her knowledge and love of quilting. Shelley lives in beautiful Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada. When she's not busy designing, quilting, working at The Quilt Patch, or walking a trade show, she enjoys shopping, home decorating, reading, and if there's still time left over, working in her yard.

A nine page techniques section begins this book.  There are 19 projects some of which are a “2 set” meaning that there are two projects with similar themes.

Each pattern begins with a color photo of the item and continues with a paragraph about the item and the finished project and block size.  The material and cutting list is easily followed.  Great graphics make the written word easier to follow and is great for us “visual” creators.  Quilting the items is left up to you so you can be as creative as you want.

There is lots of applique in this book and the templates needed for them are included.  Better yet, they are at full size so you don’t have to run out and get any enlargements.

The projects include quilts, lap quilts, table runners, table toppers, wall banner, door hanger and pillows.  All are winter themes.  If you are still looking for presents, there are some smaller ones you could whip up in time to give this Christmas.  If not, then you have a great start on next year’s presents.
