Editorial Reviews

MyShelf - MyShelf .com
"A cast of strong, intelligent characters involved in complex relationships behave as sensibly as any of us could when the earth drops away and leaves us in freefall. Like Annie, the reader may have some idea of what's happening, but Pepper manages to throw enough curve balls to keep the tension high throughout, maintaining suspense right up to the final sentence and leaving the reader with a resolution that is both intriguing and satisfying."
Huntress Reviews
"If you love Alfred Hitchcock classic mysteries, then do not hesitate to buy this book. Just when you think you know what is going on, a new twist springs a fresh revelation on you. Not until the very last page do the shocks end. This is a fascinating read, plain and simple."
Book Fetish - Sheila Leitzel
"The author has picked the timely topic of identity theft and adds a unique twist by weaving murder into the mix. Just who is trying to destroy Annie's life is a mystery up until the end. Even though she's a strong character, Annie shows a realistically vulnerable side when it comes to her sister by turning a blind eye to the possibility of Julie's guilt. And Bobby? In my opinion, not very likeable but then I expect alpha males in my storylines and not a man willing to submit to a...dominant?...
The Romance Readers Connection - Angela Etheridge
"[Katia Lief] takes identity theft to the next level in Here She Lies. The novel is disturbing, and readers will be stunned by the horrendous twists in Ms. [Lief]'s tale....A heart-pounding summer read, Here She Lies is tailor-made for mystery fans."
The Best Reviews - Harriet Klausner
"Besides being a great thriller, Here She Lies gives readers an incredible look at the consequences of identity theft and how it impacts the victims. Annie's love for her sterile twin is so strong and so deep that thinking bad thoughts about her sibling feels like a betrayal of the person she loves most next to her daughter. Bobby is a great character willing to be dominated by a stronger woman. [Katia Lief] rolls up the tension in this cleverly written suspense laden urban crime thriller."

Got it downloaded the following day... and am I glad I did!

This is a fantastic read! The author, like the narrator, must enjoy character-driven stories because this is certainly one. I felt I really came to know even the secondary characters. Although the book has a murder at the beginning, the puzzeling and disturbing events slowly unravel as we get to know the characters and some of the background story. But the mystery and diabolical actions around Annie begin to speed up like a snowball down a hill. After numerous unexpected twists and turns, we arrive at the surprising conclusion, breathless and totally enjoying the exciting ride! If you don't get to the end of the book saying OMG as I did, I'll be surprised! I really recommend this book and look forward to reading other books by this author.

    Keeps you reading-----.

Never having read anything by this author, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. In fact, then ordered 3 more written by her. If you want good character development, the feeling of "What next?", finally the unexpected wrap up----this is a book for you. I gave it 4 stars because I never give five. Silly, but that's how it is. Loved the book.

    Very Good Read

One if the best mysteries I've read. Development of characters, depth of story line and excellent writing style held my interest into the night. The only thing that disappointed me was an abrupt ending. I am anxious to read more of this author.

    Disappointingly predictable

I had the "whodunnit" figured out by about page 30. Not only was the plot line, and attempted twists and turns, completely predictable; but there were mistakes made in the logic used to lay some of the groundwork. Things that simple fact checking and/or tests of common sense could have avoided. I read the entire book because I am a bit OCD about finishing any book I start. Just glad I am a fast reader so I didnt waste too much time.

    Awesome

Wonderful and intense, with real-sounding characters. The ending was rather abrupt, but getting there was exciting. I've already bought another by this author.

Beyond a doubt the best book I have read in a long time.

I found myself racing through the pages knowing I knew "who dun-it" early on ... only to read a true twist of a knife at the end!

    Good premise...

I liked the basic plot of the story, but I didn't like the main character. I also felt the book contained way too man details about stuff that didn't really matter. There was a surprise toward the end, but the ending itself I felt left the reader hanging. I didn't feel like there was closure.
