Overview

New York Times bestselling author Catherine Anderson will touch your emotions with the story of woman who brings out the best in a daredevil cowboy in this Harrigan Family novel.

At twenty-eight, Mandy Pajeck has spent most of her life taking care of others. Since the accident that took her younger brother's sight, Luke's complete reliance on Mandy's care has left both of them feeling trapped. But when Mandy meets handsome Zach Harrigan, she thinks she’s found the ticket to her brother’s happiness.

Of the five Harrigan siblings, Zach was the hellion who partied hard and took nothing seriously. But when his life starts to feel empty, Zach decides to employ his skills as a horseman to train a mini guide horse for the blind—never expecting the project will lead him to beautiful, tender-hearted Mandy.

Even though she’s charmed by Zach’s patience and compassion, Mandy can’t bring herself to fully trust him. And when Zach urges her to confront the truth about her mother’s disappearance, the secrets they uncover are so shocking that even Zach’s steadfast devotion may not be enough to win her heart...

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
“This is another wonderful, very emotional story of the Harrigan family, which takes a look at the long-term effect of childhood abuse. The phobias of the heroine and her brother are easily believable. There is also fascinating insight into the training of guide animals and the important roles they play in the lives of the people they help.”—RT Book Reviews

“You can’t help but loving Zach. He’s a good-looking cowboy with a horse ranch and because of his wild past, he has a deeper level of calm. Pair him with Mandy, a totally devoted family girl who becomes a hellion of her own when pushed too far and you have a match made in Heaven.”—Once Upon a Romance

Library Journal
Long the family hellion, successful horse trainer Zack Harrigan rethinks his life after yet another barroom brawl—this time defending a blind man from a bully—and takes a hard look at training miniature horses as service guides. His work with the miniature Rosebud attracts the attention of Mandy Pajeck, who is desperate to find a service animal for her blind and difficult 19-year-old brother. While Zach has serious doubts about letting Rosebud work with Mandy's belligerent, spoiled sibling, he has no doubts about her. Her way with horses is magical and so is her way into his heart. But Mandy has no plans to marry—anyone. VERDICT Long noted for her remarkable ability to incorporate into her fiction with seamless sensitivity serious social issues and physical disabilities, Anderson has done it again, beautifully, penning another heartwarming classic overflowing with family, ranch life detail, humor, and love. A touching addition to the "Harrigan Family" series. Anderson (Early Dawn) lives in central Oregon.

At Bronco Bart's watering hole in Crystal Falls, Oregon, Zach Harrigan surveys the females who all look identical with breast implants and bleached hair as if a virus struck. A ruckus occurs when a cowboy tries to pick up a thin brunette who is with a blind man. The cowboy trips up the blind person. Zach calls the man a moron, so the brute punches him in the face; Zach kicks back. The cops arrest Zach who thinks of a magazine article about training tiny horses though if he decides to do so he will have to do it quietly to avoid ridicule from his older brothers. Two years later, Zach has trained Rosebud the miniature horse to serves as guide for the blind. Twenty-eight year old Mandy Pajeck wants Rosebud to help her nineteen year old blind brother Luke. Zach agrees if Luke and Rosebud come together as a team. Instead Luke is petulant and only his attraction to the teen's sister has kept Zach from pulling the plug. Zach begins to learn the childhood traumas that shape the relationship between the siblings, he knows he loves Mandy, but she has vowed to never marry. Here to Stay is an engaging Harrigan contemporary romance (see Star Bright) starring a former hellion and a woman loaded with phobias from her childhood. The support cast is powerful especially Luke and Rosebud, but also Zach's extended family. A cold case investigation into what happened to the siblings' mom years ago adds tension, but the freshness comes from training guide horses (even with Rosebud pooping in the pharmacy) as Catherine Anderson provides a profound look at training including the link between the steed and the person. This is a special work by a talented author. Harriet Klausner

Catherine Anderson has done it again! I love Zach and Mandy's story! I found myself staying up late to find out what was going to happen next. I was a little disappointed when it ended kind of fast. I felt that she gave a lot of detail until the end when I was kind of left hanging. But over all a wonderful book and I will read it again!

It's my first book by Anderson and I enjoyed it very much. The characters sister & blind brother who were abused and a handsome hunk who'd been brought up in loved happy home. Loved the reality of it all and a bit of psychological outlook of dealing with past. Very good read.
