Overview

Book 4 of 4 in the Between the Lines series (Mature Young Adult / New Adult)

Everyone has secrets.
Some are buried so deep, their existence is forgotten.
But a secret never told can turn into a lie.
And in love, a lie is one thing:
Poison.

Reid is in love with Dori, though she hasn't told her parents that she's fallen hard for the guy they'd forbidden her to see. Now she's leaving for college, and Reid's promise not to push her to go public is wearing thin, especially when she can't - or won't - return those three important words he wants to hear.

Five years ago, Brooke and Reid were a Thing. That relationship is long gone, detonated amid allegations of cheating - but they still share a secret that would stun everyone they know and alter public perception of them both if it ever comes out. And it's about to do just that.

Meet the Author

I write contemporary, romantic, coming-of-age fiction (Young Adult and New Adult). Represented by Jane Dystel of DGLM.

I'm a hopeful romantic who adores novels with happy endings, because there are enough sad endings in real life. Before writing full time, I was an undergraduate academic advisor, economics tutor, planetarium office manager, radiology call center rep, and the palest person to ever work at a tanning salon. I married my high school sweetheart, and I'm Mom to three adult kids and four very immature cats.

These 4 books were amazing.

It's funny to look back at my reviews of the other books in the series now that it's over. I had just started blogging when I discovered this series and it quickly became a favorite. My reviews of the first three books, however, did not do them justice and my review for this book, probably won't either. But, I'll do my best. The most important thing to note is that this was a perfect ending for a wonderful series! In all honesty, I was terrified to read this book. I was so happy with the ending of Good For You and just couldn't imagine anything happening to Reid and Dori. But, there were issues that were unresolved and it did ultimately affect the future of their relationship. One thing is certain though, I'm finally, unequivocally, a Reid Alexander fan now. I didn't really like him all that much in the first two books in the series. He was selfish, arrogant, and spoiled. Reid has come a long way since then. He grew on me in Good For You. He needed to have something or someone really slap him in the face with reality. And Dori was just the person to help him do that. Well, I'm happy to say that his growth continued on in this book.  Reid is now a mature, responsible, and self-less adult. I was really proud of the person he's become.  I can't talk about Reid without talking about Dori. I just simply love her. She's so perfect for Reid. She doesn't see him as the famous movie star. She sees him. Of course, their relationship comes with many challenges; she's heading off to college, he has a busy work schedule, she's trying to learn how to handle living in the spotlight, then...there's the secret. Was it wrong that Reid wasn't open about it right away? Yes. And I really do think that Dori's reaction was appropriate, even if it did make me a bit mad. But, I also understood why Reid handled it the way he did. There were moments I really thought the towel was going to be thrown, but as I said before, Reid has grown and Dori has been a catalyst to these changes. He won't live without her. I was so happy that he didn't give up on fighting for their realtionship.  Ok. Brooke. I hate to say this, but I still don't like her. However, I did sympathize with her in this book. And like Reid, I think she's matured significantly. Her life isn't just about her anymore. I appreciated Brooke's drive to make things right. Not only with her own situation, but with trying to resolve her friendship with Graham.  Speaking of Graham...He remains my very favorite character in this series. Fortunately for me, he does appear a few times throughout the book. I can't tell you how happy that made me. But, the stand-out for me was River. Oh...my...word. River broke my heart. I never expected the story to go the way it did. I "knew" about him, but that was it. I was so happy to read River's POV. Looking at his old life and his new life from his perspective was very emotional. I can't imagine reading this book without it. Or him.  Overall, I loved it. I'm so sad that the series has ended, but I really feel like everyone is where they're supposed to be. The ups and downs...the love and loss...the deceptions and truths-this series has had it all. It will forever remain a favorite series of mine. If you haven't read it, you're truly missing out. Go grab it now! Quotes: ~"I'm such a coward-I'm terrified that if I meet River, he'll become important to me. And when everything ends with Reid, I'll lose him too."-Loc 2991 ~"I'm asking you to have faith in one thing, for now: the fact that when we're alone, I'm just Reid, and you're just Dori, and we're going to love each other for the rest of our lives."-Loc 3140 ~I've always said I would never need a man, and no boy would ever save me. I was wrong.-Loc 3198

I really enjoyed the three previous books in the BETWEEN THE LINES series, and couldn't wait to find out how Reid and Dori's story was going to end! What I Liked: HERE WITHOUT YOU picks up right where GOOD FOR YOU left off, and I was immediately drawn back into the star-crossed love story of Reid "Hotilicious" Alexander and Dori "Do-Gooder" Cantrell. They're doing their best to make the relationship work in spite of the constant roadblocks like, paparazzi, college, her parents, Dori's inability to tell Reid she loves him and oh, yeah, the kid he had with Brooke Dori still doesn't know about. Despite Dori's faith in Reid, his past still haunts him, and it's hard for her parents to see beyond his prior, and very publicized mistakes. Like when he was Captain of the Douche Canoe, for example. They don't want to see Dori get hurt and I don't blame them. It's no secret that Dori has major trust issues and I loved the way Reid handled them. He was patient and really did do his best to protect her from all of the people and things in his life that could hurt her. Even while trying to get a handle on the situation with Brooke and their son, he always had Dori at the forefront of his mind. When things get bad and it appears that Dori has lost all hope in everything, Reid fights for her heart, refusing to let her retreat into herself again. He lays it all on the line and then some. Reid does the same thing for a little boy who changes his life in ways he never could have imagined. *snuggles Reid Alexander pillowcase* I'll be honest, I have never been a Brooke fan and I'm still not, but she definitely gets the opportunity to redeem herself and she doesn't waste it. What Left Me Wanting More: The language seemed harsher than it did in the previous books. (Maybe that was just me.) I thought the sexy was fine the way it was, and I didn't really care for the part where Reid gets in touch with his inner Mr. Grey. Final Verdict: Satisfying ending to the series. Favorite Quote: THE ENTIRE EPILOGUE!

This was a wonderful book full of happy, sad and angry times. It shows how everyone has grown and become responsible for their actions. I am sad the series is over. Hopefully we will get a novella that shows us 5 years down the road.

I've always loved Tammara Webber's books and this one is no different. The ending moved me to tears, which is actually a wondrrful thing. The story line is nothing I've read before and the writing keeps you reading until the tear-jerking end. If you haven't read the Between the Lines series, this book is a reason to. It's a perfect romantic and loving tale that will touch your heart. Lastly there are 558 pages.
