Overview

Here's the Deal is a book that offers straightforward advice regarding the confusing world of cancer. If you have been diagnosed with this terrible disease, you too, are now faced with having to make life or death decisions with little background or expertise. This book is a reflection of my personal journals when my husband, Tommy, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. We chose to integrate both conventional and alternative therapies which greatly improved his quality of life. These were not easy decisions to make. Being a mother of three small children, and having no medical background, this journey was incredibly scary for me. In writing this book, I wanted to help those who are also searching for answers so they did not have to reinvent the wheel or have to figure everything out on their own. Tom and I discovered that you can help your body and have a much better quality of life by making lifestyle changes. This book is not intended to "bash" the medical community or promote alternative therapies. It is written, however, to show you how a normal, busy family dealt with life after the rug had been pulled out from under them with a diagnosis of aggressive cancer. Never forget that you are not alone in this fight. I hope this book provides you with insight as to what the human body - your body - can do if you just take the time to understand it, ask the right questions, and be proactive in your healing.

Cancerous brain tumor is a horrible diagnois. Julie and Tommy soon learned what so little of us know about such a diagnois. After the standard protocols of surgery, raditation, and chemo, the standard medical community does not offer much else. Julie shares her journey of her husbands illness as they look to better health from diet and what we today call alternative therapy. This book is a major jump start on this path that none want to be on. Direct suggestions of what they tried and what worked for Tommy. This is a true testament for your love for one another and the importance of the caregivers in disease.

This book is an excellent combination of personal narrative and "how to". Ms. Mills shares her difficult journey as a caretaker and devoted wife to her husband diagnosed with cancer, while also plucking out the important concepts learned along the way. Bullet points appear at the end of each chapter highlighting key information learned throughout their battle with cancer. This book can be read cover to cover or used as a reference for crucial topics encountered at each stage in the process. It is written in layman's terms with a passion to share information she wishes someone had shared with her. Whether or not you have had cancer touch you personally, this is a must read for everyone. It is relevant for not only what to consider once a diagnosis has been made, but ways to make yourself and your body stronger and healthier.
