In my opinion, this is an excellent guide for beginning players and DMs alike. Though you may want to skip some parts (the analysis of bell curves stands out in my mind) the rest of the book contains interesting and helpful tips and guides, such as what ability scores to emphasize for various characters, what feats to choose, and a handy name guide. Many of the thin, paperback books out for D&D seem a bit overpriced, but this is a good buy.
