Overview

The star of HBO's Generation Kill and the real-life warrior from the New York Times bestseller presents his empowering philosophy.

In his publishing debut, Rudy Reyes introduces his warrior philosophy of "Hero Living": part Homer, part Joseph Campbell, part Bruce Lee, and part Spider-Man. He outlines the various stages in the journey to bring forth the hero within: recognizing the hero's call, following the hero's path, and returning from the battlefield with the hero's hard- earned wisdom.

Taking readers step-by-step through his program, Reyes draws from his own heroic story of how he triumphed over his harrowing childhood experiences of poverty and abandonment. Rather than giving up hope, he heeded the hero's call to live up to his full potential-first as a martial-arts champion, then as an elite warrior in the mountains of Afghanistan and sands of Iraq, and finally in his post-Marines life as a personal trainer, actor, and motivational speaker.

    Wow!

Powerful, honest, vulnerable, well written and so much more than a self help book. Rudy brings you right into his life and how he has become the amazing man he is today. Inspiring, loving and supporting. An awesome book from a strong warrior!

    I Also Recommend:

Inspiring man inspiring others to start their own journey without the gimmocks

I was introduced to Rudy watching Generation Kill, followed by the book by Evan Wright and I followed that by Nathanial Fick's book. I needed to know more about the man who puts rocks in his pack, puts his gas mask on and run's in the hot sun of Afghanistan. How can a Warrior embrace Tao given the job that he does? Surely not every day is roses and sunshine? Rudy's frankness in telling his story resonated with me in ways that I cannot begin to explain. I am not into self help books as I believe that no one can help you but yourself. The strength of character that Rudy exhibits through out the book allowed me to question my own strengths/weaknesses. I hit the half way mark of the book and I was ready to quit my job and travel the world because that is what I want to do. Rudy has awakened the passion within me that I didn't realise had gone and no one has been able to do that before. Whilst reading the book I found that his trials were my trials though we live in completely different worlds. It is not a book on the US Military or how to live your life, it is about Rudy living his life the best way that he possibly can and isn't that what we all want? I am making changes for me based on Rudy's 'teachings' in his book. I hope that others are able to be so positively effected by it as I was.

    I Also Recommend:

    Life Changing and Motivaional

Heartfelt read about childhood trauma and non-parenting that awakened a giant within a man that has evolved into a legacy of Heroliving. This ordinary man became extraordinary despite numerous obstacles. The obstacles became opportunities that propelled him to raise his brothers after living in a boys home, learn martial arts, survive three tours in the Middle East, and a broken marriage, only to repair and step into the light of a fitness coach, award nominated actor for HBO's Generation Kill, motivational speaker, and author. Self help of how to ease into your own giant through action, breathing, and self evaluation. www.rudyreyes.com
