Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Ken Marantz and Sylvia Marantz
A group of children proudly describe their superhero moms. One mom builds buildings; another flies a medical helicopter. One works with rescue dogs; another repairs planes, trucks, and tanks. A mom can drive a truck for an important delivery. One helps to heal patients in a hospital while another leads a battalion. All may have to go away from home, but they reassure their loved ones with mail and calls. Each child is proud of a different American soldier mom, a superhero. Each double page presents a child in a circular frame watching a mom at her special work. Naturalistic but not overly detailed watercolors create scenes displaying respect for the roles being played. The different boys and girls indicate the different kinds of families involved. Reviewer: Ken Marantz and Sylvia Marantz
