Heroes of the Sky: A Search-and-Rescue Pop-Up by Chris Demarest, follows a helicopter rescue squad in a board book with flaps, pull-tabs and pop-ups. Warm watercolors clearly delineate the equipment used and tasks performed in the mountain rescue of an injured climber. Important parts of the helicopter and the contents of a first aid kit are labeled. Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.

Here's a really nifty little pop up book with a wonderful assortment of actions. There are flaps that open doors to let the reader see what is on the other side. There is a pull tab that allows a rescue pilot to pull on his safety helmet, and there is a scene appearing to the reader as if he or she is behind the pilot's seat helping to spot the lost mountain climbers. And in that victim-spotting scene, the author lets the reader discover for himself that the lost climbers have set off a flare. Heroes of the Sky is a search and rescue tale that begins with the call for help and ends, after a successful rescue, with the pilots going off on another call. 2003, Little Simon,
