Volume 22, which is divided into several subvolumes, deals with nitrogen heterocycles bearing a large variety of functional groups. Subvolume 22/2 covers monocarboxylic acids with general formulas falling within the range CnH²n-7NO² to CnH²n-9NO². In this volume will be found the pyridine monocarboxylic acids e.g. nicotinic and isonicotinic acids, and their derivatives e.g. nicotinamide (Vitamin B3).
