Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Bestsellers Andrews, Galenorn, James, and Stein serve up stories set in their established magical worlds in this entertaining urban fantasy anthology. In Andrews's Atlanta-based "Magic Dreams," shape-shifting white tiger Dali Harimau battles a dark force to save the man she loves. In Galenorn's "Ice Shards," Finnish house sprite Iris Kuusi travels to the frozen Northlands to break a curse and confront the evil shadow of her former lover. Stormwalker Janet Begay struggles to save herself and her friends when they become trapped in a cursed Arizona hotel in James's "Double Hexed." Stein rounds out the anthology with "Blood Debt," in which San Diego vampire Anna Strong saves an innocent man and winds up on trial herself. Galenorn's story is the standout, but all four feature strong female characters and unusual world-building with broad appeal. (June)

This anthology consists of four novellas. a novella is a story that is much shorter than a novel, 50,000 words is considered novel length. But is longer than a short story and usually has chapters.
This collection had three authors I am familiar with and follow their series. Since this has only four tales in it, I'll briefly introduce them.
This is the first collection that I think I enjoyed all the stories in, at least when it comes to multiple authors. I do also read collection of stories from authors I love.
This collection has a theme of supernatural women, who deal with magic in some form or another.
The first story is by Ilona Andrews. The tale "Magic Dreams" follows a minor character from The Kate Daniels Series. Dali is were-tiger and she must confront a vengeful creature or lose the man she has secretly loved forever. If you don't read the series but interested in trying it. The first book is Magic Bites.
The second tale is by Yasmine Galenorn. The tale " Ice Shards " takes place in the Sisters of the Moon or Otherworld series. The tale follows Iris, a house sprite, who is much more than she appears to be, and her journey to confront the past and the monster she created. The first book in this series is Witchling.
The third tale is " Double Hexed " by Allison James. I am not familiar with her work but the novella sparked my interest and I have the first book in the Storm Walker series to my want to read list. The first book is Storm Walker. This tale follows Janet, a half Navajo and half demon goddess as she deals with a double hex placed on her hotel, and protecting those she cares about.
The fourth tale is "Blood Debt" by Jeanne C. Stein. This tale takes place in the Anna Strong Series. IF you keep up with the series, there's a change in boyfriends but the story of their meeting is hinted at and nothing more. This tale fill in the blanks of how Anna, a vampire and bounty hunter meets Stephen Powers, the reporter. Interested in checking out the series. The first book is The Becoming.

    A great urnan fantasy anthology

"Magic Dreams" by Ilona Andrews. When evil threatens her unrequited love Jim the alpha of the Felidae cat clan, reticent nearsighted tigress Dali confronts the malevolence and her heart. -------------

"Ice Shards" by Yasmine Galenorn. In the Otherworlds, sprite Iris accompanied by her friends (Camille, Smoky and Rozurial) travels to the Northlands to end a curse that prevents her from being with her true love.-----------------

"Double Hexed" by Allyson James. A lethal curse traps Janet the Stormwalker and her boyfriend Mick the dragon inside an Arizona hotel.------------

"Blood Debt" by Jeanne C. Stein. The witches ask Anna the vampire to rectify a wrong by killing a dangerous witch, but she fails to consider second and third order affects that may prove deadlier than the crone. ----------------

Placed in the fantasy realm of each of the contributing authors, sub-genre fans especially of these fantasists will appreciate this strong collection.------------

    No story

I was hoping to be able to sample the stories. This 14 pg. sample was just credits and no story. I don't go to the movies for the credits, so why would I do the same for a book. I only gave it one star because I didn't want anyone to think that I forgot to rate it. It is not even worth one.

    Windy

She and a group of other third-years filed in. Windy was clad in her Hufflepuff robes, complete with yellow gloves, a beanie, and a yellow and black scarf. Some of her hair was tucked into the beanie.
