Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
In this board book, a cartoon boy guides readers to place press-out recyclable objects into one of three recycling bins (for paper, plastic, and metal) incorporated into the bottom of the book. Finding cans in the playground, he says, "I'm going to put these cans in the recycling bin for things made out of metal." A prompt urges readers, "Can you put the soda cans in the correct recycling bin?" Children should respond to the interactive component and their host's cheerfulness: "If it goes in a recycling bin, it's on the right path to becoming something else." Ages 4–up. (Mar.)
Children's Literature - Lisa Kuehne
I've never wanted to recycle more than after reading this adorable book. Jablow makes taking care of our planet fun while teaching great values to children such as: don't litter. Young readers learn the difference between trash and recyclables in an interactive approach. Kids will have a blast moving the press-out pieces into the appropriate recycling bin. This book does an excellent job of creating awareness of the importance of recycling, and helps children understand these items are used to make new items we can use again. After giving readers examples of different recyclable items and bins, Jablow asks readers to choose which bin for the remainder of the book. The illustrations by Byrne fit the story nicely. The bins at the bottom work great for press-out piece storage, and the bins slide out with ease so children can participate over and over. This story is a valuable teaching opportunity for teachers and parents, and is a brilliant way to keep children engaged. Reviewer: Lisa Kuehne
