Archie's day would have been great if he had not started it by greeting the new cat on the block.

The illustrations in this book are wonderful. Young readers will enjoy looking at the illustrations while reading the story. It is a cute story about how a little boy talks to a cat and everything that happens to him after that goes wrong. He blames it on the cat. A great read for children. I would definitely recommend this book to parents and teachers. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

Jack Keats does a great job with this book, a simple story with no main purpose it serves as a great short story for kids. This story tells of a boy named Archie who simply says Hi, Cat! to a stray cat sitting near by as he passes to go play with his friends. Through out Archie's day the cat appears to be near and follows him, eventually ruining his performances for his friends. Archie ends his day with an explanation to his mother about his day's events. The illustrations are vivid and plenty bringing the story to life. I loved this short story and would recommend it.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. When I was very little (I am 40 now) my Dad used to read this to me and I loved it. The pictures like all of Ezra Jack Keats books are just beautiful. The story is delightfule as well. As is all of his books. If you have never read one of Mr. Keats' books this is a good one to start with. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
