When he sustains an injury and is no longer earning, he is cast out.When Cathy takes Tayo to school he points out a dozen different addresses where he has stayed in the last six months, often being left alone. Tayo lies, and manipulates situations to his own advantage and Cathy has to be continually on guard.     recommend, eye opening

    Has been an educational read. I had no idea about the hidden residents nor the underground sweat shops in the UK, which makes me believe they must be everywhere. The horror of kids like this not being on any one's "list" making it difficult to impossible to help them is awful. A believable, upsetting book, & ultimately satisfying end.

    Fascinating and heartwarming

    A fascinating true story with a hint of mystery. I admire the patience of foster carers, who so often have to help uncover the past of a neglected child in order to help them move forward in their lives and in the healing process. Happy surprise at the end.

    So touching. Shed some tears on this one

    Love her writing style. Have read almost all of her books. Get busy writing cathy. All her books are a must read.
