    WONDERFUL BOOOK!

I could not put this book down! Even as I finished a story, I simply had to go on to the next. SpiderHawk's characters are like friends! You really care about each one of them. And her stories are loaded with surprises! You never know what's going to happen next! As for her writing style, well, she is a master of the English language. I can't recommend this book highly enough!

    Whispers of the Goddess

The book, 'Hidden Passages: Tales to Honor the Crones' by Vila Spider Hawk, offers a journey rich in symbolic language. The stories are written with the rhythm of ancient folktales, yet any modern woman will be able to recognize the fierce and tender narrative as part of her own cycling heartbeat. In the chapter, 'Mima Po', a young girl learns to recognize love and friendship as acts of magic through the patient guidance of a wise elder. Later in the book the finger of the Goddess beckons a maiden, mother, and a crone through the labyrinth of life and death. They discover both powerful inner strength and the importance of the fine threads that bind them together as a family. 'Gita's Journey' brims with grief so real and sharp it tumbles and spills in the reader's mind until the edges are worn smooth. Echoes of the Goddess, in all her aspects, whisper through every page. Eight women eight stories. In many cultures the number eight is sacred, denoting transformation, immortality, and the ever evolving cycles of life and death. The anthology embraces these themes with passion. The author honors women of all ages, including the crones that mentor them. Reverence and remembrance of the three faces of the Goddess, are the keys she gives the reader to unlock the hidden passages in one's own life and discover the wisdom that dwells within.

    Hidden Passages ~ Vila SpiderHawk

There is an excess of books about women and craft on the market. To wade through the lists to find a genuine voice that speaks into the heart is a daunting prospect. That is why I find myself in joy at encouraging each true heart to read Vila SpiderHawks¿s Hidden Passages `Tales to Honor the Crones¿. Here are eight stories that make a journey of depth and light around the Wheel of Life each engaging the light that is the gift of wisdom from our crones. This book shows the magickal presence of the Goddess in such mundane events as ¿It was still dark when Mother and Grandmother and I went to the market.¿ (Maiden, Mother, Crone Cara) which evolves into the real-dream of maturation. Here we see and feel deep inside ourselves that where a woman walks, there comes the potential for awakening wisdom and compassion that speaks to the hidden longings that are universal hearts beating as one. We see and feel that potential for joy and love in our own heart no matter the individual path we are on. The Tales in Hidden Passages brought laughter and tears as I identified with each woman and felt the resonance of her journey within myself. Vila SpiderHawk's writing is clear and articulate while creating character and mood that makes each of these stories a stand alone experience and the whole brings delight to any reader! ----------- Christine E. Fisher, Many Feathers, Crone, Shaman, Therapist

    GREAT BOOK!!

I have to add my two cents as I was enthralled when reading this totally awesome book which searches, explores and understands the soul of womanhood, while offering insight into the human spirit as well. It is an exiting ride, through many countries and many eras that portray amazing knowledge of the history, traditions, rituals and cultural mores of those times.
