She casted one last watchful glance at her apprentice, and padded happily over to Great_Powerful_Element, her bushy tail swishing. "Would you like to go for a walk?" She offered.

A small white and ginger she-kit pads in. "My name is Eagle That Flies at Dawn. May I please join?" she hopefully asked.

(I might change her name.) Leaf glanced at Frost and turned back to her apprentice. "Prepare your nest, we'll train in the morning."

I could totally relate to Julie. I myself once felt called to missions. I even tried Bible College. But God had other plans for me. I got horribly ill my first week there that I missed too many classes and had to leave. I was so hurt and disappointed by God. I really felt that I was doing his will. But it turned out it was more my plans than God's. I learned in the months after, that God had other plans for me. If I would have remained at Bible College, I never would have met the people I did--- the best friends I ever had. I never would have been there for them when they went through some serious trials of ther own. And most importantly, I never would have learned to trust God with my future and realize that my real missionfield was all around me. That God could use me right where I was to show them God's love. The path God put me on has never been easy, but looking back I could see he was with me, teaching me, loving me, every step of the way. In that way, I really could relate to Julie's story with all its ups and downs. I also liked Adam and how he was trying to make a difference in people's lives right in his own backyard. And I really liked Codie and how they were able to reach him with God's love and mercy. The only thing that bugged me about this book is that Adam's project could have really benefitted Cody's family. He was really struggling to provide for his mother and siblings and they were living in little more thab a shack by the railroad tracks. I would have thought he and his family would have greatly benefitted from Adam's housing project and it bothered me that neither Adam or Julie recognized that. But other than that one instance, I really loved this book and all the characters.

What a great story - and so true of how we serve God! How often do we serve Him by doing something we think He wants without seeking Him in prayer first? Usually it's only to find out it's OUR choice, not what He wants. Julie finds that through prayer and listening for God's will that she can find the peace and comfort in knowing what God's will really is for her. But she still has doubts that her prayers are heard, that she's really following His will. And Adam has a lot to more to learn than he lets on. As they help each other in different ways it's amazing how God teaches them both the lessons they need to draw closer to Him - as well as God's plan for the two of them. It's amazing to see how God works in the lives of these two - just like He works in the background of our lives.
