Meet the Author

John A. Cassara was an intelligence officer and special agent for twenty-six years, beginning as a clandestine case officer for the CIA. At the Treasury Department, he served as a special agent of the Secret Service, of the Customs Service, and in the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, during which assignment he was detailed to the State Department. Cassara lives near Washington, D.C.

    Great read

    I have worked for the U.S. government for 15 years, and still this book was an eye-opener to me. Cassara captures your attention from the very beginning with tales of the Cold War ineptitude of the CIA, and doesn't let up throughout the rest of the book. Unlike most books of this style, however, Cassara offers many suggestions as to how the problems he identifies can be fixed. He's not simply complaining, he's offering solutions. This is a very informative and surprisingly entertaining book and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in how things 'really work.'
