Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
The creators of Silly Street offer a cheerful but slight search-and-find/counting game, which follows a group of bored kids (initially seen gazing listlessly at a Foxworthylike comedian performing on TV) who decide to play hide-and-seek in their neighborhood. On each spread, readers are asked to find the child who's hiding, as well as a cumulative list of items: one raccoon, two spoons, three mops, etc., topping out at 14 cupcakes. Tepid verse sets up each escapade, but doesn't provide much of a story: "Some people can hide much better than others/ And that was the case with David C. Smothers./ He knew blending in was totally key/ And he did it quite well, I think you'll agree." Björkman's bustling cartoons become progressively more cluttered and outlandish as the number of hidden items grows, and monkeys provide antics on several spreads. By Where's Waldo? or Walter Wick standards, this doesn't present much of a challenge; it's best suited to kids on the younger edge of the targeted audience. Ages 4–7. (Oct.)
From the Publisher
Hide!!! is an absolutely charming, engaging and colorful book that fathers and children can read together, laugh about and enjoy. - Wayne Parker, About.com official Fatherhood guide write

This will be one of your child's or grandchild's instant favorites. - John Lehman, Rosebud Book Reviews

The book is richly illustrated - there is a lot to look at on each page and it is all very colorful and appealing. Both my niece (2) and nephew (6) were captivated by the book - my niece liked looking at the pictures and listening to the verse while my nephew was into trying to find each item hidden in the pictures and counting them all. This is an excellent book for families with children of multiple ages - these is something in there for everyone!? ? Books in the City

What a fun book! Hide!!! by Jeff Foxworthy is a fun book that will challenge the entire family. - The IE Mommy

The book is a story about a neighborhood hide and seek game with a twist. The twist though is not in the actual story, it's on the pages...you remember those Find It scenes in the Highlights catalog we used to get when we were kids? That's what you get with this! It's a story with a built in search on each page. After you read the page you can go on a journey for random household and yard objects with whomever you are reading it with (sans pencil). I like that it will stay relevant for a long time for my kids, Kenna already loves books and this one will last FOR-E-VER (ala Sandlot) for her. Also, the irony is not lost on me that the name of the book is also a clue as to the books duplicitous nature.? ? Macaroni Kid

Fun twist on the old game of hide & seek

What a fun book! I can just see Mom or Dad with the kids reading and searching through the pages for the kids who are hiding in the ageless game of hide and seek and all the little objects - i.e. 2 spoons, 4 flip flops, 1 raccoon, etc. - tucked away in the illustrations.

The Mom’s Choice Awards® has named Hide!!! among the best in family-friendly media, products and services.

The Mom’s Choice Awards® (MCA) is an awards program that recognizes authors, inventors, companies, parents and others for their efforts in creating quality family-friendly media, products and services.

I love that it is written in rhyme with a good deal of humor.

"Where to go?" thought Chris Cash
As he made a mad dash
To hide where he'd never be found.

When he saw the big tree
    His heart leapt with glee.
To find him, don't look on the ground!

The illustrations get more complicated and the hidden objects become more numerous and varied as the "story" progresses.

This colorful children's book took me back to a kinder, slower, more gentle time. A time when on a summer's evening the kids were safe to run through the neighbor playing hide and seek. They were safe. They had fun. And it was good exercise. Remember how we could slip back in to "base" while the seeker's back was turned? It was always good to do that and not be found. The essence of this time of fun in a child's life was captured by the facial expressions and body language of the kids.

Well done, author Jeff Foxworthy and Illustrator Steve Bjorkman.

    Love It!

I heard about this book about a year ago from a morning show that Jess Foxworthy was on. My son is now 2 1/2 and loves for me to read to him at night. This book is now a favorite of ours. It's recommended for ages 4 and up however my son likes to look for things in pictures. This book is great, every page you are looking for the same thing from the previous page but always add 1 more new thing to look for.

this book was written very well, cute contents, great illustrations! I would highly recommend it!
