Overview

This collection of Joe R. Lansdale stories represents the best of the "Lansdale" genre-a strange mixture of dark crime, even darker humor, and adventure tales. Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
“A terrifically gifted storyteller.” —Washington Post Book World

“Lansdale is an immense talent. His ability to generate sidesplitting laughter and gut-wrenching terror on the same page is unique in modern fiction. There's something special going on here, and it ought not be missed.” —Booklist

“...shows that the popular Texas author, perhaps best known for his mysteries featuring Hap Collins and Leonard Pine, is equally adept at his own peculiar and often amusing brand of dark short fiction...This is a must for Lansdale fans and collectors.” —Publisher's Weekly

A must read collection for any fan of Lansdale¿s short fiction.

A must read collection for any fan of Lansdale’s short fiction. Hard to go wrong with such gems as “Godzilla’s Twelve Step Program,” “Incident On and Off a Mountain Road,” and “Night They Missed the Horror Show.” Lansdale’s typical mix of dark humor, brutality, and the bizarre combine into the perfect recipe for nail shattering entertainment. Not every tale is stellar, but if one enjoys his raw and haunting style, most of these stories will not disappoint. Plus, Lansdale includes a brief introduction to each one, offering insight into their creation. A terrific collection from one of the true masters of the horror genre.
