Barnes & Noble - Scott Schinder
On their much-anticipated sophomore release, the Orange County punk/funk/metal/hip-hop posse Kottonmouth Kings -- whom Rolling Stone described as "more stoned than Sublime, cockier than Cypress Hill [and] trashier than 311" -- up the ante on the smartass stoner swagger of their successful debut Royal Highness, cementing the their status as preeminent exponents of rock/rap fusion. "First Class" with its chanting "blaze all day, every day" chorus, "Here We Go Again," "Daydreamin' Fazes," and "Good as Gold" deliver infectious choruses, pummeling grooves, and rowdy, smooth-flowing rhymes. Elsewhere, the group reveal an articulate, anti-authoritarian social conscience on "Peace Not Greed" and "We the People," which balance an outsider's perspective with pointed absurdist humor. Several memorable cameos spike the punch on High Society: "Wickit Clowns" includes an appearance from the Insane Clown Posse -- who'd previously booted the Kings from a tour for on-the-road misbehavior -- and Cypress Hill's Sen Dog "We the People" and Jack Grisham of legendary L.A. punk combo T.S.O.L. "Peace Not Greed" also join the fun. Both an uninhibited party platter and a gutter-level, state-of-the-union address, High Society balances the sublime and the ridiculous with uncommon ease.
All Music Guide - Curtis Zimmermann
Its easy to see why the Kottonmouth Kings are such likely protégés for the Insane Clown Posse. Like the wicked Clowns the Kings are a white, hardcore rap duo with "parental advisory" lyrics with a sound that's almost identical. Instead of Faygo and the dark carnival, Kottonmouth Kings bust rhymes about smoking weed. While not really having much to say other than lobbying for the legalization of cannabis, the album does have entertaining moments, especially on the tracks "We the People" and "Wickit Klowns" a collaboration with you guessed it ICP. This album will no doubt have a strong appeal among teenage males looking to drive their parents crazy. Adults disturbed by the content should listen to the CD closely because beneath the hardcore rap exterior the songs often act as tributes to wholesome drug anthems of the past. The words "legalize it" made famous by reggae great Peter Tosh grace the album cover, and at one point the two bust into a near endless repetition of the Grateful Dead's immortal refrain "What a long strange trip its been."

do you wanna hear some good music????!!!!!!!!!

this new kottonmouth king cd high society is good. it captures the minds of some stoner suburban kids singin on the mic. this new cd features some good and not good artists some of the good artists are too rude the judge and dog boy and the not good artist is icp but thast is only my opinion. this cd features the life of a anarchist and the i just dont care kind of attitude. The kings are still into the punk rock mode but this cd captures some more of the hip hop scene from them.
