This is the tale of Ariel a young woman who seems to have magic running through her veins, but disaster's happen whenever it is leaked out. Oddly enough her father has decided to match her in marriage to a gentleman named Julius whom she neither knows or cares to. So she runs away. On her journey she stops at an Inn and meets Brayden who works there. Previously Brayden had been having dreams about Ariel but didn't realize it was her. Push comes to shove and some of her magic comes out at the dining area of the eatery at the Inn. She is accused of being a witch. She goes to her room and Brayden checks on her and the conversation turns to Brayden telling her he might be able to help her because his mother was a witch. He tells her she might be a High Witch which there is only three on earth at one time. These are the most powerful of witches. Well of course being a High Witch can be good and bad, as Ariel and Brayden will find out.

This to me turns into a love story rather quickly. I would like to know more about the High Witches and their powers. Hopefully this will be in book 2. I will be reading it very soon.

The storyline was good, but lacked a lot of details. A lot of the storyline is rushed through, character meet and fall in love in few days. It feels like the author had a great idea but didn't know how to work it out. This is a great book if you want a quick, paranormal romance story. Just don't plan on getting too caught up in the characters

This book just fell flat for me. The concept was good but the plot was predictable. If you take away all the making out/sex, there isn't much "meat" to the story. Again, it had potential, but it fell short.

Hmm how to put this nicely...this is my first bad review. i thought this book was horrible. I literally had to force myself to finish. I didnt read anything but the dialogue and was still able to keep up. It was annoying how they kept repeating their sentences and how fast everything went. It was a decent plot obviously or i wouldnt of bought it. It lacked so much that im not even going into detail. I wouldnt recommend this to the dullest person i know..i was shocked by the good reviews after i finished. to each their own i guess.

I received this book free from the author in exchange of a honest review. Thank you, Mona!

Brayden dreams about a beautiful girl for thirty days, until that girl appears and meets him. But, soon, he discovers that she's a High Witch, so she needs to go through 'The Test', a test where she has to kill the person she loves. But Brayden gets too attached to Ariel, the High Witch, and he realizes he is the person who has to be killed in order for Ariel to survive. But Ariel knows that love always win. And Brayden will find out too.

'High Witch' was a very intriguing and unique novel. My favourite character is Brayden, because he was smart and helpful, but Ariel was the protagonist and she managed to save Brayden and herself in a dangerous battle between good and evil. Ariel was strong and she learned quickly how to use her power. properly. The story was original, but I had two major problems with it; first, the insta-love. Brayden and Ariel's relationship seemed rushed and totally predictable. And than brings me to my second problem, the fact that the entire book was predictable. I knew from the very begining what was going to happen and I would have preffered a different ending, maybe a sad one. But I hope that the second book is better and I'm looking forward to reading it. I recommend this book, it was a short and fun read!

And look at that beautiful cover!

I haven't read too many books with witches but I am quite interested in reading some of them. I had High Witch by Mona Hanna on my wishlist and, after reading it, I can only say that it was different from what I've expected it to be but I really liked it!

The story follows Brayden, a young man who keeps having the same dream in the past month. When a young woman comes to the inn he works at, the man starts to have a strange feeling. When he discovers the link between the woman and his dream, his life changes and everything can be a threat. But nothing is hard for Brayden when he has the one he loves by his side.

Hanna created a world in which witches are categorised in two: the normal witches and also high witches(I won't tell you what makes the difference between them).

I liked how the story progressed and I found the connection between Brayden and Ariel a special and lovely one. I really liked Brayden's determination to protect Ariel and also the description of her, seen through his eyes.

The book also includes some scenes that might not be appropriate for those too young of age but not to worry, because their are not explicit. The book does not focus on these but on the strong bond that is created between the main characters.

The sacrifices that have to be made by Brayden and Ariel come to an extreme, especially in the last part of the story. They proove the strong love that both characters have for one another and also keep the reader in tension.

I loved the ending of the book and I really was happy for the evolution of the characters. The shop they managed to open in order to help people was a really wonderful idea the author planned for them.

Given the fact that this is a short novella, I am happy that I got to enjoy it and I am looking forward to the next book in the series!

I recommend the book to those who like a short read filled with fantasy and paranormal elements, strewn with a lovely romance.

    Quotes:

"They appeared in a small street filled with buildings, in a nearby village. Brayden breathed raggedly, unable to contain his shock. Ariel finally lost consciousness, and tears began to run down his face. He screamed for help."

"He held onto her. They lay in each other's arms all night. Brayden fell asleep listening to her heartbeat. He dreamed of standing with her in a field, her in a white dress, getting married to him. He dreamed of love winning. He dreamed of love winning."

Hanna employs very vivid descriptions, while still maintaining an extremely realistic feel to her work. She is very good at laying out the concepts behind and within the story without breaking the flow of the action, and this novella does have a fair bit of that. As a whole, her writing style draws you in very easily. You find yourself wandering along with the characters without even realising it was happening.

The main characters have been developed enough to carry the storyline. The minor characters have been given enough detail that they are able to support the hero and heroine throughout the novella. I really appreciate the fact that, regardless of the brevity of the story, none of the characters are simply names. They all have enough development to make them human.

This was a very bittersweet novella. It was also quite unique. I still astounded at how detailed yet fluent this novella was.

I really love all sorts of fantasy books, and this was no exception. I really liked it, even at times it seemed slow but to me that is just the sign of a good book. It had all the things I look for, adventure, suspense and romance. It was also very well written. This is my review :) -I_Eat_books (librarything).

“You’ll see,” she whispered. “Love will win. Somehow, love will win. Trust me. I believe it with all of my heart.”

High Witch is a Fantasy/ Paranormal Romance Novella with a really interesting plot. It’s about Ariel a very powerful witch who doesn’t know that her kind of power is unique, there are only 3 witches in the world at a time with that kind of power. She meets Brayden, a young guy, son of a witch, who recognizes Ariel’s power and he tries to help her from people who would abuse her and want her only because of her abilities. The plot is well written and it’s very easy to follow, the characters are great and it has romance mixed with suspense, and it was very well developed. I really liked the book, I hope there will be more to read about Ariel & Brayden!
