Editorial Reviews

Doody's Review Service
Reviewer: Thomas L. Pazdernik, PhD (University of Kansas Medical Center)
Description: This is a concise focused review of pharmacology for students preparing for Step 1 of USMLE.
Purpose: Pharmacology is covered using a comprehensive outline format that is easy to read. Students who learn well from the High-Yield series prior to studying pharmacology will also like this format to review pharmacology prior to sitting for the examination.
Audience: The audience is medical students who have completed their basic science courses and are preparing for Step 1. Other health professionals who are required to take certification exams will find this book useful.
Features: It covers all important areas of pharmacology in a concise outline format. It is thorough and truly covers high yield information. It lacks figures and tables that many review books have to facilitate the comparison of multiple drugs. Like other books in this series, it does not have USMLE-like practice questions.
Assessment: Medical students are fortunate to have numerous learning resources to assist them in their mastery of understanding pharmacology for patient care and for passing certification exams. These include multiple types of flash cards, quick recall books, drug charts, and numerous review books. The High Yield series format is much liked by many students.
