Description: This is a very enlightening book about general psychiatry.
Purpose: The purpose is to provide a plethora of information for an audience with limited time. The material provided is useful for USMLE Step II and Step III.
Audience: The target audience is medical students and first year residents preparing for USMLE Step II and Step III. It will also be very helpful for medical students during their psychiatry rotation.
Features: It covers numerous subjects on clinical syndromes: medication induced psychiatric symptoms, child and elder abuse, psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and ethics and legal medicine. The authors point out most memorable clinical portraits of psychiatric disorders with the icon called "patient snapshots." The information is presented in a brief text form with many quick-access tables that are easy to read.
Assessment: This is an excellent, easy-to-read book about general psychiatry. It is useful for those who prepare for USMLE Step II and Step III as well as for all medical students during their psychiatry rotation. I highly recommended it.
