The story is very good even though it is only 46 pages. Worth the money and short read.

If you're in need of a quick Highlander fix look no further. This one's short and sweet. Perfect for a rainy afternoon or when you're on the run and just want something that'll quench your thirst for gorgeous hunky highlanders and gentle lasses that are more than what they seem.

Since Highland Heart's a short story (about 50 pages) you know things are going to move fast but McCollum did a fantastic job and really had me not only buying into the story but loving it. The romance is quick but, and oh I love this theme, there's a childhood connection between Rachel and Alec, that for me, really made it seem like these two were meant to be together.

I really enjoyed both Rachel and Alec. There's a little fire between them, a little chemistry and a bit of sweetness that was just enjoyable. Heat factor? Eh, no too much given the length of the story but damn he's a good kisser! One thing I liked about the two was that Rachel's not a Highlander but an Englishwoman. I don't think I've seen that before and I really liked the twist. She's smart, quick on her feet, gifted with magic and the perfect match for the sexy, arrogant, knows exactly what he wants, Highland Chieftain.

With an exciting and action packed storyline of warring clans, kidnap and escape and romance as well it was just a fun read. McCollum has a great voice and I'd love to read more from her in the future. I am curious about some of the other characters who played small parts and really hope we'll get their stories one day.

I typically don't read a great deal of historical romance, but thoroughly enjoyed Heather McCollum's Captured Heart, and was so excited to hear about her novella, Highland Heart.  We originally met Rachel and Alec in Captured Heart, but they were much older.  Highland Heart takes place before Captured Heart and is the story of how Rachel and Alec met.  Rachel is what many would call a witch, but she calls herself blessed, a healer.  Alec Munro is the leader of his clan and is quite the character, rough as they come while at the same time very desirable.  He experiences Rachel's gift firsthand.  Though the novella is only 50 pages, it is packed full or action, fantasy, and steamy romance.  Since reading Heather McCollum's novels, I will never think of men in kilts the same way.  I mean, who would have ever thought 15th century burly Scottish men who called their women "lass" could be so hot and passionate.    Well they are, at least they are in the world Heather McCollum creates, which also includes adventure, beautiful imagery, fantasy, and historical elements.  If you enjoy historical romance then I would recommend you check out Highland Heart and Captured Heart.

Highland Heart is a very short story about a young English woman

Highland Heart is a very short story about a young English woman with exceptional healing powers, traveling to the Highlands with her younger sister and ignoble father who are then captured by a warring clan.  Riddled with action and passion, Highland Heart is a quick but fulfilling read. Being only about 50 pages or so, the romance was short and incomprehensive but still felt true and well-written.

I saw on other reviews that this is perhaps a prequel to the author's previous book, Captured Heart, and after looking it up realized that it is the story for some secondary characters from Highland Heart. I just purchase it and can't wait to get started on it now!

I would recommend Highland Heart to sweet romance reader fans looking for a quick lunchtime or in-between read!

Yes, this story is too short ... but it is a NOVELLA, so it is supposed to be short! It is supposed to wet your appetite and it does. I want more! Rachel is wonderful and Alec is a yummy rugged highlander. Heather writes so vividly and I love the added twists of magic. Goin' to have to find her other works, starting with Captured Heart!

    Short story but still good

Wish it was longer could have been a great story if more developed, the romance felt rushed, but it was still a good book overall.
