I really enjoy the fact that she includes characters from previous books in her novels as it makes you feel like the people and families are more real knowing that they continue on, even after their own stories are told. I like how she switches back and forth from telling the stories from a male character's point of view to a female's. This book is not as steamy as some of the previous books in the series (I thought the 3 Murray daughters' stories were much steamier and the plots slightly more involved/complex). But I still thoroughly enjoyed this latest book by Hannah Howell and cannot wait for the next one coming in December 2006. This is a must read for her usual fans and if you are new to the series and have never read them, I highly encourage you to do so, I know you will fall in love and not be able to put them down until you have gotten through the entire series. Beginning with a kidnapping and dark dungeon, Highland Lover grabbed my attention and really held on to it for the entire novel. This is due to the character development of the leads, especially the heroine. I had not read the previous novels in this series so Ms. Howell's narrative was fresh, I had no background history of either one of the leads but it didn't matter as the author does a fine job of filling in the missing historical pieces without letting it overpower the hero and heroine's story.

In 1475 Scotland, Alana is tossed into a dark cell occupied by a man when she refuses to tell her abductors the Gowans who she is. They want to ransom her. Being small, her jailers and her roommate assume she is a child though over the next few days Gregor thinks she might be a tiny woman. While Gregor MacFinagal Cameron decides to end his relationship to Mavis before they become betrothed, Alana Murray worries about her twin sister Keira who she knows by her dreams is in trouble.------------ Working as a team with Alana on his shoulders to try to climb through the trapdoor on the ceiling, the duo escapes though it took several nights of failures and bruises. When he finally sees her in the light, he knows she is an adult that he desires. They make it to the woods where she is too exhausted to continue so he carries her until they find shelter, an abandoned cottage.------------ Gregor is attracted to Alana and wonders if she is his soulmate. He plans to break off totally with Mavis before he reveals his feelings to Alana. When she dreams Keira needs her, Gregor holds her and soon kisses her. Alana knows Gregor is her soulmate. They talk and he promises to help her find her twin, but first they journey to his home where Mavis and her sire already announced their betrothal.----------- The strong lead couple and solid support cast turn HIGHLAND LOVER into an entertaining medieval romantic thriller. Readers will feel that they accompany Gregor and Alana on their dangerous trek to find safety. Though the last twenty-five pages feel like filler and Keira¿s troubles and the Gowan menace are totally resolved outside the plot, fans will appreciate this delightful fifteenth century Highland romance.---------------- Harriet Klausner

An excellent author. I have read many of her books and have yet to be dissappointed. Entertaining, romantic, mystical. Enjoy!

They meet when they are both kidnapped for ransom. Gregor is a great guy who does dumb things in the love arena. Alana comes along to straighten him out. But first they need to escape the bad guys. Pretty good story.

The story was ok. I just find it strange that she is searching for her twin sister, who she has such a connection with, yet it was never mentioned in Keira's story that she even had a sister.

Really enjoyed this book it had a great sense of humor and kept my interest. Alana and Gregor are both at different times thrown into a dark dungeon type hole. They both eventually escape and are constantly trying to evade their captors trying to make their way to her sister and his brother. As usual Hannah Howell does a great job bringing humor and romance together effectively.
