Overview

Eric Murray was the youngest of his brothers, determined to gain his rightful inheritance after thirteen years of bitter dispute with his father’s family. Starting out alone to confront his tight-fisted kinsmen, he encountered a chestnut-haired beauty set upon by thieves. When she begged for Eric’s protection for herself and her infant nephew, Eric promised to deliver them to the safety of her family. Bethia Drummond desperately tried to ignore her attraction to the azure-eyed stranger. Still, Eric Murray was Bethia’s only hope of escaping her ruthless kin who planned to kill her and her orphaned nephew, and claim their inherited land. Then Bethia learned that Eric, too, was seeking land and coin from his own kin—her family’s closest allies. How could she love a man she might one day be forced to stand against? And yet she could not ignore what her troubled heart knew—that this proud knight had more than inspired her deepest passions, he had become her very destiny.

A MUST READ! A WONDERFUL SCOTTISH CINDERELLA STORY!! HIGHLAND PROMISE BY HANNAH HOWELL!!

HIGHLAND PROMISE by Hannah Howell is an exciting historical romance set in 1444 Scotland. This is the third and final installment in the "Highland Series" but can be read as a stand alone. "Highland Destiny and Highland Honor" are the other two in this series. This is the first I have read of this series but would have to say it was a great read.It is the tale of Sir Eric and Berthia. It is an adventurous tale of love, honor, betrayal, danger, sweet sensuality, finding a family to love you as you are,and getting what is your birthright. When Sir Eric and Berthia meet,Berthia is running with her infant nephew from a madman, who is trying to kill her and her nephew.Sir Eric offers her his protection and help to get her and the infant back to her family's castle. While,Berthia is a twin, her sister Sorchia, was more looked after and is now dead along with her husband.Berthia's parents always treated her as second best,a servant and thought her ugly. When Berthia and Sir Eric are caught in a compromising position, they are forced to marry.Which Sir Eric intended all along. For he was attracted to Berthia from the beginning and she to him.Sir Eric is also determined to gain his rightful inheritance after thirteen years of dispute.Together they learn to love, trust and follow their destiny. This is a fast paced story kind of a Cinderella story where the second born of a twin is mistreated by her parents and the only true attention her receives his from her father's men at arms. With little self confidence of her own,Sir Eric will show her she is beautiful in every way. From the top of her head to her every heart and soul.Scottish man, what is not to love.Sir Eric is handsome and tough with a heart of gold especially toward his Berthia. The plot is carry out to the very end of the story, but what adventure is story is full of and danger at every corner.A MUST READ. This book was received from the publisher and details can be found at Zebra, published by Kensington Publishing Corp and My Book Addiction and More.

    What a nice guy!

A wonderful story and very romantic. I read about Eric and Bethia's daughters in other highland books and was anxious to read 'their' story. This is kinda a cinderalla type story. A great read.

    Enjoyable Reading

I am a first time reader of Hannah Howell. I read Highland Promise and was so fascinated by the characters Sir Eric and Bethia that I bought and read Highland Destiny. There is no doubt in my mind that I will enjoy Highland Honor, the third book in the triology.

I have read most of hannahs books and she writes great love stories. I dont read the erotica stuff. Her regular love stories are fun and she is a happy ending girl like me.

Hannah Howell can be hit or miss......................................................
This is hit. Usual silly stuff where they're booth madly in love with each other but no one will say it first. Finally ........drum roll........ someone says the Love word. Then comes the epilogue and the twins. Still it was well written and welldone.
