Book One in the Highlands Trilogy

Don't Miss
Highland Grace: Book Two
Highland Magic: Book Three

Set in the turn of the thirteenth century Scottish Highlands, this is the story of Daniel MacLaurin, a handsome, rugged warrior-laird haunted by his past, and Maryn Donald, the beautiful, high-spirited lass destined to help him find his heart's ease.

After his mother and grandfather, the only family he has ever known, are viciously murdered in a surprise invasion when he is a lad of 13, Daniel spends years focusing on training as a warrior and rebuilding his fortress, determined to control the world around him so that nothing like it will ever happen again.

Maryn Donald is a wild child; a lass who, as the only offspring of her widowed father, has been indulged in her high-spiritedness. So much so, that she takes matters into her own hands when she sees that the neighboring clan is mistreating their horses. She impetuously steals them and then, as recompense for her crime, must wed the powerful, wealthy young laird about whom she's heard such disturbing rumors: Daniel MacLaurin.

HIGHLAND VENGEANCE is a steamy adventure romance, but it is also a family saga. It's the story of how a man overcomes the horror of his past to find love, connection, and contentment once more.

THIS IS THE FULL SERIALIZED NOVEL. All six parts of the serial are included in this edition:

THE DARKEST DAY
THE MEETING
THE WEDDING
THE MAGIC GIANT
THE HORSE MARSHAL
THE BRIGHT BEGINNING

Adventure Romance / Family Saga

What a Great Story! I think this is one of the best of the best. This book kept showing up on my Kindle recommendations list. I never tried it because I was unfamiliar with the author. I was hesitant to give it a try. Then came the opportunity to read and review all three books in the trilogy. Being a great fan of Highlander romances I just couldn't pass it up. Taking that chance on this author was one of the best reading choices that I've ever made. Awesome Talent!!!

Amidst conflict, controversy and war, a powerful love story flourishes from book one of the Highlands trilogy and lovers of romance will be elated. Saxons vision is impeccable, and its blatantly obvious she did plenty of research before she penned this saga. History buffs and fans of passion and adventure alike will embrace this novel and will be eager to grab book two.

Meet the Author

K.E. Saxon is a third-generation Texan and has been a lover of romance fiction since her first (sneaked) read of her older sister's copy of "The Flame and the Flower" by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss. She is a member of Romance Writers of America and Romance Divas. When she isn't in her writer's cave writing, you can find her puttering in her organic vegetable garden or in her kitchen trying out a new recipe. An animal (and bug) lover since before she could speak, she made pets of all kinds of critters when she was a kid growing up. Her mother even swears that she made a pet of a cockroach one time (but K.E. doesn't believe her). She likes to write funny, sexy romances.

This is another free read that blew my socks off!! 1034 pages on my Nook!! Firstly I love historical romance novels and especially about Scottish Lairds, but I'm always a sceptic about a free read so I took a chance and was pleasantly surprised! This novel was wonderful for the romance and the adventure. I love an imperfect romance and a couple that struggles to get it together. In real life happily ever after has bumps along the way and people tend to carry baggage so it was lovely to see the ups and downs that go along with falling in love and learning to be a couple. I loved all the subplots in the story that made each chapter interesting and the minor characters that gave the book substance. The author kept me enraptured in the story throughout and left me yearning for book 2 and 3. I recommend this book to anyone who likes this time period and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

K. E. Saxon hit the ball out of the park with this book. It’s long but well worth the read. Highland Vengeance is the first of the The Highland Trilogy. It is a romance that takes place in late 1100 Scotland when the clan system way of life was stable unless one clan declared war on another. Daniel MacLaurin is saved from the massacre of his family because he was fishing when the keep is attacked by no other than Jamison Mclean, his own father. At the age of thirteen he now finds himself the oldest surviving member of his family and thrown into the position as Laird of the MacLaurin clan. Full of guilt for doing nothing to save his family, he swears vengeance will be his and he will kill his father. Maryn Donald is an undisciplined child who has her father and anyone else she meets wrapped around her finger. At around fifteen years old she meets the Laird Daniel MacLaurin when he comes to visit Laird Donald, Maryn’s father. She is not refined by any standards. She doesn’t leave a marked impression on Daniel other than she is a handful and very immature for her age. Some twelve years later Maryn and Laird MacLaurin, now both in their twenties, find themselves in an arranged marriage as a means to prevent a clan war. Maryn has changed and is no longer the wild child Daniel met years before. As part of the agreement, along with the marriage, Larid Daniel MacLauin must take over the position as Laird of the Maclean clan for two years. Due to the financial arrangements that the Maclean elders offer, Daniel agrees and the romance between the newlyweds begins. Daniel soon finds Maryn’s adventurous upbringing has some benefits when it comes to their bedroom time, but also caused him grief because she thinks she knows what is best for her and takes some unnecessary chances. K. E. Saxon does a great job weaving a web of Highland life that includes all the problems the lovers encounter as they get to know each other. I definitely enjoyed reading this book and I’m looking forward to the next.

I'm not sure this book was originally available in it's complete 6parts. However I'm glad that the author put all the parts together in one story. I'm also glad their was a glossary, as I often have to search out words and meanings in other books. I loved the complete details the author used, and I'll definitely finish this trilogy. Loved it!!!

I loved this book! Over 1,000 pages gives you days of reading pleasure. It's a slow-moving romance between a Laird bitter from his violent past and a girl who never outgrew her tomboyish ways. It was a romance destine to be. A few steamy love scenes but they certainly add to the depth of their love. They both have a journey to face and he has demons from his past that arise to be dealt with. Great read. Keeps you captivated.

I had never heard of this author and have been reading romance novels for many years. I started reading this and simply could not stop. It is a very well written love story, full of great scenes. If you like great, descriptive sex scenes this book will not disappoint. The scenes were very sexual yet the connection powerful. Don't hesitate and read!

I love a good highland story and this one did not disappoint. I was impressed enough to buy the last two books in the trilogy. It has everything you look for in a good romance book. Mystery, danger and fantastic romance.

This was a good book. Good story line and good characters. It was really long, like over 1000 pages on the Nook. But this is another book that in order to know the whole story you have to read the next book in the series. Alot of times i dont read the second book. But Im looking forward to reading the next book in this series :)
