Meet the Author

Leanne enjoys reading, writing, and traveling. Most recently she traveled to Norway to do research for an upcoming Viking epic. The year before, she traveled to Ireland, where she fell in love with the beautiful countryside and its Viking history. She’s also traveled to England, Spain, France, and Hawaii in search of stories waiting to be told! Her absolute favorite place to visit, however, is the lovely country of Scotland. Its beauty is beyond words, and the friendliness of its people is incomparable. In Florida, she can often be found at Disney World with her grandchildren (although everyone knows they are merely an excuse for her to visit).

While doing genealogy research for her husband, she fell in love with Scottish history. That led to the novel HIGHLAND WISHES, a historical novel about Scotland’s War for Independence. Its sequel is HER HIGHLAND ROGUE. She currently has several other novels in progress. She's currently adapting her two award-winning Scottish books for the Christian market as well. HIGHLAND MIRACLE is currently available. KEEPER OF MY HEART, a novel about the Battle of Culloden and its aftermath is her current work in progress. THE POWER AND THE PASSION is the Viking epic. The third story in the Scottish War for Independence trilogy is also being worked on. In addition, Leanne has participated in several anthologies.

    Fantastic Scottish Historical Romance

Newer author Leanne Burroughs sets HIGHLAND WISHES, her debut historical romance novel in Scotland and England, 1294. Along with an intensely passionate and sensual love story filled with memorable characters you will both love and hate, you¿ll find a plethora of historical particulars focusing on some of the famous battles fought for Scotland¿s independence. Our hero, Grant Drummond returned to his home after learning of his father¿s murder and was determined to slay the man responsible. That raid led him to the castle of Gerald Blackstone, where he slaked his vengeance then unbeknownst to him, kidnapped the man¿s daughter, Victoria (Tory) Blackstone, thinking her a servant of the manor. On the that fateful night, Tory was attempting her own escape from the cruel father who detested her so much, he¿d gone ahead and betrothed her to an equally vile man who¿d already killed two of his wives. Determined to find true love she was thwarted in her escape by falling into the hands of a `dreaded Scot¿. Sworn off of love, Grant would often in the coming days question his unusual decision in taking so lovely a captive ¿ a captive who both exasperated him and was slowly but surely capturing his heart. --- Written with an undeniable love of Scotland, and her history, this author gifts the reader with a passionate tale of love between two people who the fates graciously brought together. Tory was a seriously wounded young woman and the authors treatment of the healing love Grant brought into her life was positively brilliant. You¿ll laugh, you¿ll cry in this deeply moving, and fully robust tale of the many struggles towards happily ever after. This is a fantastic Scottish historical romance that fans of the genre should not miss!!!

    Not sure

The story is nixe but the hero is cruel. He doesnt tret her right and constantly makes her cry even though he knows that his wife has been abused he still spanks her and yells. I liked the story lne and I guess men used to be like that but I still prefer heroes from hannah howel where men dont even dream of spanking their women

    wonderful debut

I often find myself buying more of newer writers that established names. There is a passion of the write, still in love with the process, a heart that makes a new writer a bit more enjoyable to me. I found that passion in Her Highland Wishes. I also loved Grant Drummond. A true Alpha hero that is a true dashing Highlander. I am reading the second book in the series now. Her Highland Rogue and finding it just as enjoyable.

    wonderful debut

Highland Wishes is a first time Historical Romance by a new writer Leanne Burroughs. As with all first writers, you see the small things she will learn to polish in time. However, what hits the reader immediately is her true love for the romance of the period. As a Scot and someone who has dealt with the history of the country a big chuck of my life, it takes a lot to impress me. Burroughs does. First off she knows who Andrew de Moray is - big points for that, lass! Burroughs has written a wonderful Scottish Medieval full of heart and adventure. It's set in the period just before the rising of William Wallace. Her tale uses the Scottish struggle for independence against Edward Longshanks, Edward I of England. Grant Drummond vows revenge against the English man who killed his father, and in the quest for vengeance, he kidnaps Victoria Blackstone to use against her father. Little does he know, Victoria has long born the hatred and indifferences of Blackstone. Victoria is a gentle woman, long hurt by her father's coldness, promised in marriage to a disgusting man. Despite her fear what her father will do, she is determined not to be another of the poor women who have wedded her betrothed, only to die an early death. She has suffered, often harshly under her father's tyrannical control she is determined this will not be repeated in a husband. As she plots her escape, she little knows that fate is conspiring to play a role in her life. Grant is a dashing hero, though he definitely is an alpha warrior, willing to do what he must. Naturally, Grant and Victoria get off to a rough beginning, but slowly he breaks through Victoria's reserve. Burroughs, writes in prose that touches the reader, makes them feel as they watch the struggles of this couple. Soon, the Captor turns into protectors, as Grant vows Victoria's father will never harm her again. Burroughs has done a thorough job researching the book in an effort to tell a story that is strong, memorable. She shows promise of being a very delightful writer of this genre. Her next book The Highlander is in the works, so I am sure everyone will be looking forward to another heartfelt saga from this wonderful writer. Look for the sequal Her Highland Rogue coming soon. It's a beautiful sweeping saga that shows Burroughs is a talent to be watched

    Romance at it's best!

Highland Wishes is the first book of two, and, I hope many more historical novels set in Scotland by Leanne Burroughs. The hero (Grant Drummond) and heroine (Tory Blackstone) belong together and I couldn't help but root for their HEA right from the very beginning. Grant is the gruff, alpha male but he can't resist the kind-hearted Tory, his match in every way. I loved this book--it's heart and soul stayed with me many days after I finished it. I highly recommend Highland Wishes to anyone who loves classic historical romance.

    Wow...what a tremendous read!

Leanne Burroughs¿ Highland Wishes far surpassed my highest expectations for any romance novel. Victoria Blackstone, a real woman who deals with more than her fair share of troubles, abuse and, finally, love, grabbed me as a woman who would stand up and fight for what and who she wants, using a kind, forgiving and tireless heart and spirit to accomplish her goals. Grant Drummond, a man¿s man in every way, is not only handsome and virile, but a man who has respect, admiration and a big heart. He proves, over and over, that love is not simply declared once and forgotten, it is lived and proven every day, in many, many ways. It is said that war is hell, but falling in love amidst gruesome battles, injury and death is even more treacherous, although Tori and Grant finally find Heaven amongst the fighting, turmoil and uncertainty of late Thirteen Century Scotland. Burroughs¿ characters are not merely fictional acquaintances, they are now dear friends who will live in my memory forever. Reading this novel was like watching an edge-of-your-seat movie...it made me cry in anger and happiness, inspired me to believe the best in others and I had to stop and clap in sheer pleasure more than once. Fabulously crafted, masterfully told and written like one who had lived in Castle Drummond, instead of one who has only been there in spirit, heart and pen, Leanne Burroughs has earned her place in the tomes of exceptional historical romance novels.
