Overview

The definitive account of AC/DC's rise to fame, when the ribald lyrics and charismatic stage presence of singer Bon Scott, along with the guitar work of Angus and Malcolm Young, defined a new, highly influential brand of rock and roll. Drawing on many interviews and featuring a gallery of rare photos, Clinton Walker traces the band's career through the life of their original front man, from small-time gigs to international success, up to Scott's shocking death in 1980. AC/DC's undiminished superstar status (they're the fourth-bestselling band of all time), and their indelible influence on a succession of genres from metal to grunge to rap, ensure that Bon Scott's presence continues to be felt strongly. HIGHWAY TO HELL offers the full story of this seminal rock figure. A consistent seller since it was first published here in 2001, HIGHWAY TO HELL has been updated for this edition. New details that have come to light in recent years about the last hours of Scott's life have been added, enabling the author to dispel persistent rumors and myths and once more set the record straight.

this book is absolutly awsome. for anyone who loves AC/DC especialy the early days then you have to read this book. While other books have focused on the band itself with information on all the band members this one focused totally on Bon, the greatest front man ever. His lyrics are still better than anything being written today. I only wish the other band members had allowed the auther to interview them for this book but many of Bon's closest friends and mates were more than happy to talk about Bon. One question still remains unanswered and that is what happened to Bon's notebook??? He was always writing and had been writing for Back in Black (not yet titled at that time)??anyone??--

I love AC/DC and had to read this book to find out about who Bon Scott really was . I was let down by the book . Clinton Walker didn't really go into any of the seedier side of things of Bon , at least not into all out detail . This book is written by a loyal fan of Bon . Clinton let women and friends ( most notably Mark Evans ) tell it as they saw it . Angus , Malcolm , Phil Rudd and notable others refused to be interviewed for the book . Clinton was even refused by the AC/DC machine to quote Bons lyrics ! The book was origanlly to be a movie , but since he was refused the permission to use the lyrics......and a rock and roll movie has to have some of the songs by the singer . Nope . The one thing I was impressed with was how he figured out AC/DCs tour dates from when Bon joined up , but don't expect any wild road stories . It was like the autor wrote this book with the fear of being sued or offending anyone .
