Overview

Hikes, Flights, and Lookout Stories — Life Lessons From High Places is not an instructional book for rock climbers or a guide to firefighting. Nor is it a “crash” course on flying planes. What’s more, this book has nothing to do with scaling the mountains of financial success or searching motivational secrets to fire-up employees. Rather, this eBook is a collection of 30 disclosures of the author's personall adventures as hiker, pilot, and fire lookout.

The episodes are divided into three parts with 10 stories each. Readers will fly with the author through a horrendous storm in New York and also land on the mirrored waters of Quilcene Bay. Readers will hike the West Coast Trail and be led on “The Wrong Trail” into the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. They will visit Granite Mountain Lookout for some interesting experiences, including the night the author nearly burned down the lookout.

Readers will discover honest reporting regarding errors of judgment and some just plain dumb actions. They may wince and laugh, and perhaps even experience some inspiration. All of the stories are true.

At the end of each story the author draws one or more spiritual applications to make the material relevant to dialing living.

One might consider this book a sort of snack pack to take along on his or her travels through life. The reader can use the episodes as morsels to inspire and energize him or her for the next leg of the journey.
