Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal - School Library Journal
Gr 3-5-Hillary Rodham Clinton's life from her childhood growing up in a suburb of Chicago to her career as a lawyer to her newest role as First Lady is simplistically and superficially depicted in this easy-to-read but poorly written biography. The complexities and interesting facts that have made Mrs. Clinton such an influential and prominent figure of the 1990s are never fully explored. This lack of depth, insight, and detail make the book a marginal one. Although the information is accurate, the writing style is stilted, choppy, and dry. Sources for quotes are not noted. More descriptive and well-drawn portrayals of the subject's life and her politics can be found in magazines and newspapers. Geared for older readers, JoAnn B. Guernsey's Hillary Rodham Clinton (Lerner, 1993) and Aaron Boyd's First Lady (Morgan Reynolds, 1994) are both better choices.-April L. Judge, formerly at Jefferson Madison Regional Library, Charlottesville, VA
