Him.We girls all had that one guy that we always knew. He either never knew we existed or maybe he did see us, just not the way we wanted to. I like to say I have been blessed. I met my husband when I was just 14 years old. We dated in high school and things fell apart. I let him go. And then, when I never thought I’d see him again, I did.
Plot: This plot is one that anyone can enjoy. It’s typical with the whole boyfriend/girlfriend from high school, with a bunch of he said/she said leading to a breakup. One that they both regretted. Each chapter gives the reader time to see how things really went down. Flashbacks to good times, times where Sarah could never even think of being without him. I adored watching them fall in love all over again.
Love: Well this is sort of obvious huh? Sarah and Will stories unfolds nicely for the reader to enjoy. The readers get a chance to watch this couple make amends, to fix what should of never been broken. To see them come together (FINALLY!) after all these years of lost communication.
Like Sarah, I too lost my first high school love and held every bit anger and bitterness towards my now hubby. When he ask me to give him a chance (7 years later), I made him work for it. Little my little, my heart began to melt for him till I no longer could hold out any more. I married him later on that year and never looked back. I guess that’s why I really enjoyed this book so much. Sarah’s story and mine are so much alike.
HIM is a great story of love and redemption. If you like to fight for what is lost and see a nice happily ever after, HIM is just for you. A wonderful example that true love never fails even when you thinks its lost, HIM is excellent.

4 stars = I REALLY liked this book
This is actually the second time I've read this book. I read it not long after it first came out and while I remembered enjoying it, I couldn't remember the details well enough to write a review or read Her, so I knew I needed to read it again. Within a few chapters, nearly everything came back to me and I got to experience Sarah's love and heartbreak all over again.
Ms. Heywood does an outstanding job alternating Sarah's current visit home for her brother's wedding with the past when her relationship with Will moved from just friends to boyfriend-girlfriend to heartbreak. It was refreshing to see two genuinely nice people acknowledge their feelings for one another and watch their relationship grow and deepen. Alas, the world is full of miserable people who do what they can to insure they have company and two of those persons sabotaged Sarah and Will’s budding relationship. Because of the way in which the author alternates between the present and the past, the reader is well into the book before all the facts come to light and this makes for a very captivating read.
This was just as lovely of a read the second time around. Him is a sweet romance, plain and simple; the characters have amazing chemistry yet the sex scenes are written in more of a fade-to-black television style scene – you know they had sex, but the details are kept private. Ms. Heywood does an excellent job of capturing young love and giving Sarah and Will the second chance they deserve. I am looking forward to reading Her as I am quite interested to read their story from Will's perspective.

Settle in for a fun, quirky and sometimes frustrating romance. Sarah left and hasn't seen Will in 7 years. She has stayed away from her hometown just to avoid seeing him until her brother decides to get married. Now she has to go back to be in the wedding and risks running into Will. Little does she know that Will is also in the wedding. What happens when 2 star crossed lovers separated by misunderstanding and time reunite? Is Sarah willing to give Will another chance? What really did happen the night Sarah left? The chemistry between Will and Sarah is fabulous … best friends from the beginning that just seem to get each other. I love Will's perseverance to never give up on Sarah and to get to the heart of why she left. Yes, I was frustrated at times by both characters … come on already and talk … that's what I wanted to tell them but when I look at the whole story, it makes sense how and why they reacted the way they did. I enjoyed sitting down with this story … it was a quick, fun read without a lot of angst or drama … refreshing which I needed. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. The cover grabbed my attention from the very first time I saw it. Totally different from everything currently out there. As they say different is good! :)
Sarah loves her best friend Will. Will doesn't know it. Will loves his befriend, Sarah and she doesn't know it. See where this is going? LOL.
I loved that the book flips between the past and the present, which helps the reader understand where everything started. This also something I really enjoyed as it wasn't an "instant" love thing. Or a "I saw him smile, and I was in love" and by the way, I just met him sort of story line that tends to be the case in many romances. Their feelings for each other developed through time and by nourishing a friendship. The flashbacks lets you get to know them when they were young and teenages and gives you that glimpse as to why they are the way they are today. There was this one moment in the 'past' that something is said and then the next chapter is the present. You have that moment of "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"
The author makes us wait two chapters later that they go back to the 'past' to that moment and nothing.... Talk about a build up and let down. BUT staying with it, the author teases us with a few more moments of "will they" or "won't they" and it's AWESOME!
So through the most of the book, you're trying to figure out what the heck happened that caused her to run away from every one and everything. When you do finally figure it out, you'll be "if only they just talked to each other" or "if she would have confronted him, then it would have all come to light and they would have had a great life". BUT if that were to have happen, we wouldn't be reading this book, now would we?
Both Sarah and Will are great characters on their own and together sparks fly. Carey does a great job of showing you how they were and what occurred to get them where they are currently at. I know some of the reviews have said that his reaction to finally finding out the why was too laid back. He wasn't blazing mad. I think that while that may have been a reaction we would have wanted to see, it really goes to show you where his priorities are when it comes to her.
Narrator Review: Lucy does a great job narrating this. Each characters have their own voice and personality. I really liked what she did. I've looked at her work and have added some of the books she narrates to my TBR List.
Overall, a great read! If you need a break from a genre you normally read, I recommend this book. A quick read and not too deep or dramatic. New to audio books, this one is also one I would recommend as the narrator did a great job!

"HER" is from his perspective, this one choked me up a few times. I felt Sarah's heart ache in "Him" but a man crying just really gets to me. It is the same story but different. Both books are great reads. I love it when the author drags me into the lives of the characters. Carey Heywood has done this. I didn't really want the book to end. I try not to go into detail when leaving a review, I tend to spoil it for others. In any venue of the book world you can see the books I have read and decide if you would like to read. I Highly Recommend reading this set.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

I was offered a free copy of this book for my honest opinion.
I give this book 4 stars! This book was very sweet. I loved how it developed. This book took me on a journey of how 2 people meet fall in love and then something stupid gets in the way. Do “True Love “ win? You’ll have to read it to find out.

My romance cup runneth over with this one! This book was an easy 5 stars for me. Carey Heywood told a beautiful story about true love and soul mates that will have your heart constantly melting. Don’t get me wrong, this book is not all hearts and flowers. There’s a great story and relationship between the main characters, Will and Sarah. They endured some trials and tribulations along the way but sometimes love can conquer all. Him is part one of Ms. Heywood’s Him Series and is based on Sarah’s point of view. I can’t wait to read part 2 of the series, Her, which will be based on Will’s point of view. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. It was an easy read. Sometimes that's what I need. Predictable but very sweet. I'm not disappointed with this book. I look forward to reading more from Carey Heywood. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

I absolutely LOVED this book. I didn’t want to put it down and couldn’t wait to see what happens. This book has two story lines and goes between present and past. I loved the way it was written and it just made me want to keep reading. I totally felt anxious reading this book because I wanted to know what happened between the two of them and I couldn’t seem to read it fast enough.
I don’t like to say too much in a review to give things away. BUT I fell in LOVE with Will and Sarah and all they have gone through. I can’t wait for HER to come out and see Wii’s side of the story. Great job Carey!!!

I wasn’t sure if I was going to LOVE this book because the plot isn’t that unique. Even with this doubt I really did enjoy most of the book. This book was very entertaining and I loved the emotions that ran through it. There were a lot of secrets that were hidden in this book and their discovery made the book very interesting. I also like the way the author wrote the book and felt that she did a good job of keeping Him in a constant flow as no parts were particularly rushed or slowed. I did feel that the flashbacks were almost too much and too often. They kind of distracted me from the plot and the scenes that were happening in the present.
Sarah was a character that ran from her past and kept on running. I didn’t really like her until all of her reasons for running were disclosed at the end of the book. I felt that she portrayed this girl who was very skittish and desperate for her secrets to stay in the past. I also didn’t like how her emotions seemed to overwhelm her at times and she didn’t always think her actions through. Otherwise it was interesting to see the book through her perspective.
Will was a character that kind of confused me. He says that he’s always loved Sarah yet he doesn’t even try to find her at all? I also thought it was weird how Sarah’s family was supposed to be so loving yet wasn’t worried when Sarah ran away from home to another city and then never came back. If her family actually loved her, wouldn’t they try to contact and stay in touch with her more? Then Will seems like best friends with the family and yet hasn’t figured out where she ran to?
Though I really did like the story, there was almost too many scenes that really didn’t make sense. The image that the book gave to certain characters wasn’t followed through with their actions and it made the book almost confusing to read. Yet I did like this book and will be looking for more by this author.

Fell in love with the main characters. Best friends finally become lovers then it all goes wrong. Seven years later and they must meet again. We get her version in this book but in the author's next book soon we will get his. Great story and must read for summer. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
