Exciting, Adventure, Love, Truth, and much, much more!!!

When I first read this book, it was while I was a prisoner in the TDCJ system. I looked at the book, and right away put it into my locker. I didn't want to read it. However, the inevitable happened...we had our lock-down. With no movement of any kind, and nothing to do, I went ahead and took the book out of my locker and began to read it. I have to tell you that I laughed, cried, and at times was extremely excited...my cellie kept asking me what was going on. I told him he just need to read the book, but he preferred to draw.During that lock-down, I read the book over and over again.
Now that I am out, I have repurchased the book as my original I left with another prisoner. Today my wife and I read a few pages every day as a type of devotional. We laugh, cry, and are very eager to turn each page. It's more than just a book, it is about us, and we can relate to it as we walk along on our daily journey.
I highly recommend this book to all individuals who are wanting a taste of another reality, yet keeping firmly planted in this one.

    Inspiring!!!

Hannah Hurnard's simple Christian allegory entitled Hinds Feet On High Places is a book that I will always treasure. It makes you see the Christian faith in a new and wholesome way, and experience the joys and pain of Much-Afraid, a girl like so many humans who is learning how to love and obey God, no matter the sacrifices. This book is one of the best I have ever read, and I don't know how many times I have reread it because I love it so much. A must read!!!!

A blessing! Read with someone else, especially your child.

I read this on my own, and could hardly put it down. It gave me pictures of myself and how I needed to trust the Lord.

I read it with my daughter who was 13 at the time and we discussed the many life lessons that it reflected on the journey of the young lady Much Afraid. We cried together, laughed and were totally blessed in a unique way. I will never forget her journey how she escaped her tormentor's and the rescue of the Lord time and again. The ending was really neat. I recommend it often.

I can never seem to keep a copy, because I am always giving it to someone.

    You won't be disappointed. Enjoy!

the message in this book never grows old

I first read this book when I was a new Crhristian back in 1974. I loved it then as it was so very helpful on beginning my walk with God. Now I am at least 30 years older and am going to read it for the third time. I have over the years recommended it to many Christians struggling with their walk in the Lord and will continue to recommend it. I love the names of the charcters and how Much Afraid learns to put them in their proper place and how she learns what we must all learn - that the Shepherd must come first in our life and that He is only a call away!

    Highly Recommended

This book was suggested to me by my grief therapist. I had just lost my 6yr old son to cancer after a 6 month battle. I am a firm believer in God, but of course with a situation like losing my baby I question(ed) everything. I was questioning my faith. This book took me through my son's journey with cancer. I believe he was "Much Afraid". I believe that the angels were walking him through many trials, to the valley of the shadow of death, and then to "High Places". I can also see myself in "Much Afraid" with angels by my side, accompanying me through very difficult situations. This was the perfect read for me at the perfect time.

    Hinds Feet on High Places

One of my absolutely favorite books. I have given this book as a gift over a dozen times as a spiritual guide in learning to cope with the journey of life and to keep suffering in perspective. We all need a guide through the valleys and this book gives a wonderful view of the purpose of the journey on the way to the promised land. There is a wonderful edition out now that includes additional resources alongside the story for contemplation as you read the book.

Hinds' Feet on High Places--An Allegory

You must be in the mood to read the book; however, I believe it is a story that applies to all of us at one time or another. We can relate to the main character and desire to aspire to her goals as she does. It relates even to our everyday lives because it is an allegory. It's a good book to keep around to refer to when one is down or has a friend going through a rough period.

    Read over and over again

This book is a must read. It has been a rock in my struggles. I repeat Habukkuk 3:18 19 often like most do Psalms.

New Outlook on my early Christian Walk

I just finished reading Hinds Feet on High Places. We read this in our church in our Bible Study Class. This book could not have come at a better time in my life. It has changed my attitude about everything. Not too mention the fact, that it has also had a big impact on my husbands life as well. I would highly recommend this book to everyone.

    A Delight in Anybody's Books

A quick and deceptively easy read, this book ranks among the truly great books ever written. In an allegory of simple clarity and delightful word-pictures, the author follows Much-Afraid on her epic journey. Reminiscent of John Bunyon¿s Pilgrim¿s Progress, this book shows the author¿s own unique touch and personality in prose that has a poetic quality to it. Read it for the sheer beauty of language. But read it also for the beauty of the story with its amazing picture of love. Perfect for reading aloud, the lyrical quality of the language delights the ear. This is a book with much to recommend it. It deserves a place among your most treasured volumes.
