Hiring the Heavens: A Practical Guide to Developing Working Relationships with the Spirits of Creation

( 13 )

Overview

In Hiring the Heavens, Jean Slatter turns abstract expressions, such as "God is within you" and "ask and you shall receive" into something more concrete, more immediate and real. She suggests readers recognize themselves as part of the divine plan of creation and teaches them to simply believe that the "angels for hire" can help them solve problems, both small ("jewel sleuth" to find missing pearls or "spiritual connoisseur" to find a great restaurant) and large ("romance committee" or "spiritual employment ...

Overview

In Hiring the Heavens, Jean Slatter turns abstract expressions, such as "God is within you" and "ask and you shall receive" into something more concrete, more immediate and real. She suggests readers recognize themselves as part of the divine plan of creation and teaches them to simply believe that the "angels for hire" can help them solve problems, both small ("jewel sleuth" to find missing pearls or "spiritual connoisseur" to find a great restaurant) and large ("romance committee" or "spiritual employment counselor"). While written in a light-hearted style, the book is based on the serious concept that everyone is part of "God" and that, like parents, God expects everyone at some point to grow up spiritually and take charge, and that the heavens will support the process if called upon. Using personal stories and real-world examples, Slatter shows how she transformed her life by "hiring the heavens" — and how the reader can, too.

This book was a very inspirational read that I needed at the current time in my life. When one finds themselves in the mists of a storm in their life we tend to turn toward any kind of spiritual guidance to help us through the turmoil we are experiencing. I have always believed in Angels and one as always walked with me and guided me. This short read was a nice confirmation that my mind was not imagining things and that these celestial beings are really there helping us if we allow and ask them to.

    Love the book.

I was awakened by this book!

Now when I first heard about this book it was at a speaking event that Iyanla Vanzant from Own's Fix my life show. She explained that we all need to read this book. I followed my curiosity and ordered it and YES! This is a MUST. I was so excited by the message i was telling all my friends and co workers about this book. I used Jean's methods almost everyday. Just brilliant and I'm happy I have had the experience to read this great book!

    A must read!

Very simple and so informative! Written in a very readable style, just as if author will talk to you in person. I implemented the practices she is talking about before I finished reading this book. And I am feeling great! It takes the preasure off affirmations and delegating to the Universe. Great book!

I initially reviewed this on July 30, 2008. This is a very creatively written book by I am for certain a very creative author. I enjoyed reading this book especially because it helps remind one that spiritually there is always help for one in the spiritual realms. This is a very creative and enlightening book on connecting to the spiritual/celestial realms for help and using your imagination to hire the celestial helpers for your everyday concerns to tap into the universal energy for assistance. It is a very brief but informative and entertaining read. Admittedly I was also persuaded by Janet's positive review of the book (thank you Janet) and am glad to have purchased it. I would definitely have to agree that this is a practical guide to developing working relationships with the spirits of creation and it gives interesting ideas on names to give for committees that you would hire based on concerns and holding "meetings" regarding the help you need. I personally have used some of the suggestions in this book and it has helped make my life easier. Definitely consider this “Hiring The Heavens” by Jean Slatter guide if you are in the process of deciding.
