Alaric Bond wins me over with his first in the Fighting Sail Series. We are given very beleivable persons for the Boys on the gundeck to the Cap'n.We learn about life on a King's Ship in the war against the French. What is so great is the way we are given a several points of view of the French and the English. The discription of life before the mast is as real as it gets. This book has got me standing tall in the muster to get my hands on The "Jackass Frigate"
If you like the Hornblower Series or Jack Aubrey Series, you will love Mr Bond's book. This novel is not a look alike, but a total new look at character development. FIVE STARS !!!!

Based on historical fact, His Majesty’s Ship will take you into the world of Nelson’s Navy, and captivate you all the way to it’s gripping conclusion. “Bond has an extraordinary talent for describing the sights and sounds of an 18th Century man-of-war.
