His Stolen Bride (Book 2):
A CAPTIVE OF LOVE

Wrongly accused of murdering his father, Drake MacDougall wanted nothing more than to strike back at his guilty, duplicitous half-brother. So he made the fiend pay by abducting his bride-to-be. But as Drake carried his captive off to a windswept Scottish isle, he soon found that vengeance wasn't the only thing on his mind. Lady Averyl Campbell proved herself no biddable maiden, but an alluring, strong-willed beauty who could tame his dark moods with her touch. When danger and treachery threatened to part them, Drake realized that only she could heal his tormented soul, for she had won his love.

I thoroughly enjoyed Drake and Avery's story. Drake being unjustly accused of his father's death and wanting to get revenge. He kidnapped Avery and got more than he expected. The author did a great job of telling their story and how they finally come to their HEA. I enjoy a good highlander story and this was spot on. Great series and highly recommend.

As a huge fan of Ms. Black I had to read this book. I only read finished this book because I had hope it would improve. The basis of the story is that Drake MacDougall is a wanted man accused of murdering his father by his half brother. To get even with him, he kidnaps his brother's fiancee, Averyl Campbell. Once kidnapped Averyl falls in love with Drake and they work together to heal his disbelief in love. First, the characters were flat and one demisional. Averyl has been taught by her father that she isn't pretty so every moment of self reflection she keeps saying how plain she is. Drake is as bland as they come. He doesn't trust in love because his mother didn't love his father and cheated on his dad. Honestly, I could have liked the book if I did not feel like I was dealing with two teenagers. They both lacked depth and there was no genuine build up to show that their encounter grew into a romance. It was like they were stuck together on an island and after a few weeks, guess what? I love you. Ha! I would not suggest to anyone to read this book. If you want great novels by Ms. Black read some of her other titles. None of this historical mess.
