This text has been helpful in studying Ancient History. Not only does Knapp engage the reader, but he introduces the topic of discussion clearly, so when the material becomes more complex, the reader is more able to easily grasp these concepts. While Knapp does jump a bit in his writing, and certainly does not write the text to be anything more than an Introductory work, when used in conjunction with other texts, it serves as a wonderful basis for study. In this manner he enhances the reader's understanding through a use of various maps that are placed so that the reader can visualize the area that is being reviewed. Further, while there are few illustrations in the text, the ones that are chosen appear to be chosen carefully as they directly support the material, and help the reader make connections between the written texts and illustrations. Was this review helpful?
