Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Joyce Rice
Everything you would ever want to know about living in a submarine can be found in this book by a former commander of the Royal Navy. Organized similarly to the Eyewitness series, this Barron's title gives a great deal of information in a small amount of space. Readers will be introduced to different types of submarines, including those used in wartime and those being used today. Also presented is the history of the submarine and its development. Illustrations show the reader the inside of a submarine, navigation equipment, and the personal items often carried aboard for long journeys. Readers will even find out when and why white mice were often passengers aboard these unusual vessels. Sidebars help the reader to relate to other historical events relating to submarines.
