Overview

History of the Second World War, B. H. Liddell Hart's last work as well as his magnum opus, embodies the fruits of twenty years of research and a lifetime of thinking on war. This monumental history is both a crowning achievement and a final summation by one of the greatest military thinkers of the twentieth century.

A Brit's more open and honest view of the Second World War

This is an excellent book that is quite an authority on World War II. A considerable amount of honesty is included in the analysis of the war as well as excellent technical research. A must have book for the historian interested in 20th century history and war history.

    Uneven and bland

This was thoroughly disappointing since I was immensely entertained by The Rommel Papers. Reading this was a total chore, regardless of the insights larded through the book. The book has bloated coverage of Northern Africa. The authors totally gloss over Britains bailing out and abandonment of the French and Belgian Armies and turn Dunkirk into the major focus of the entire chapter on the fall of France. Apparently John Keegan is the only British author with a one volume history that isn't infected with the British Apologist bug.
