All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Michael Jackson's double-disc HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I is a monumental achievement of ego. The first disc is a collection of his post-Motown hits, featuring some of the greatest music in pop history, including "Billie Jean," "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough," "Beat It," and "Rock with You," and it's filled with enough prime material to be thoroughly intoxicating. The second disc, consisting entirely of new material, is easily the most personal album Jackson has recorded, as references to his scandals permeate almost every song, creating a thick atmosphere of paranoia. Michael Jackson is the best singer in HIStory!

HIStory:Past, Present and Future-Book 1 is a great package which contains a total of 150 minutes of music! It combines past hits like Thriller, The Way You Make Me Feel and Black Or White with new ones like Scream, Earth Song and You Are Not Alone. And, this package really goes to show that Michael Jackson's part in making HIStorical recordings is not over yet-it's just begun!

    The Best Compilation Ever Made!

Michael Jackson has truly expressed his talent in this two disc set, which combines his past hits with excellent new material. Check out the videos to Scream (the most costly video ever made),Childhood, Earth Song (most requested video), & Stranger In Moscow.

    MYstory of HIStory

(i love mj)14 years of age my thoughts... Epic records have not only brought out the past and the present of Michael Jackson rather they have accentuated his future in the music industry Michael (45) the youngest member of the 1967 pop sensation the jackson5 has produced countless c.d’s, tapes and records. Yet his talent has never died off. Being voted the king of pop, Michael Jackson is known for his expertise in the music world. Jackson again hasn’t let his fans down with songs expressing everything from politics (Scream) to racism (They Don't Care About Us), to the ecology (Earth Song), to his personal struggles with the press (Tabaloid Junkie), to abuse (Little Suzie), the album ends with his own special statement about his whole experience in a cover of Smile. However this is no ordinary pop c.d. having old and newer hits and the c.d even features a duet with sister Janet Jackson. He may come from the wired and strange fact files of never never land but we all know who is still the KING of Pop

''HIStory'' is another phenomenal album that includes several ''Nr.1 Hits'' worldwide, such as Billie Jean, Bad, Thriller, Scream, Earth Song, They Don't Care About Us, Beat It, Heal The World, etc. - In addition, for a true fan (as I am), HIStory is a must have in everyones collection...it's brilliant!!!

    more from this reviewer

    It's all Michael!

When I first listened to this album I was mad at myself for not getting it sooner!! This is the BEST CD! All of the songs portray deep feelings of life's situations that Michael was having to deal with during that time in his life. I learned a great deal more about MJ while listening to the the words of these songs and I love him so much for sharing all his inner most feelings with the world in such a way that touchs the whole spectrum of emotions but yet keeps my spirits up...the music ROCKS and what goes around comes around so..."DS"...you'll get yours! I totally recommend this CD, it's incredible!

Flash light? Check. Spare tire? Check? MJ's HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I Double CD? Check

Much like the spare tire and a flash light this CD has become an ever present staple in my car. I simply keep it there so I never leave home without it. Both discs of the set are awesome though I must confess a preference for the 2nd disc. I'm still grieving over Michael's passing and it makes me feel a little better to hear him singing some of his more aggressive tunes. I particulary love hearing him do his version of Come Together and he and Janet doing Scream. RIP Precious MJ... RIP.

Almost as awesome as the original release

I've always loved "History" so i was very disappointed to find it was not the original recordings. At least two of the songs on the second disk were "bleeped." When purchasing the album there were no signs or indicators that it was edited. Not that i have to have swearing in music to enjoy it. That's not the point. It was just a little disheartening to know someone else changed it.

    PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This album is awesome!! It has all of Michael's hits plus some great new songs! In this album Michael has new songs that mostly explain the things that go on in the world. For instance, "Scream" tells how annoying politics can be, "Money" tells about how people can be greedy, and "Tabloid Junkie" is a strong song which is based on his problems with the press. Besides that it is really good!!!

The Cheapest Way To Get A Summary Of Michael's Career

If you are interested in Micheal Jackson but you don't know much about him, I think this CD is great for you because this first CD in the pack includes most of Michael's biggest hits in his past life, and the second CD has all new, but just as great songs as in the previous. I'd like to thank MJ for bringing creative, all-new, wonderful, music into the world!**** Please, if you are a Michael Jackson fan, email me so we can chat.

    Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson is one of the most accomplished musical artists I've ever known of. I may be only twelve years old but that doesn't matter. He was awesome when he was around and he still is even though some of us don't now his where abouts. But what can you expect from someone who is probably the most rich singer. I mean him having a secret tunnel into Disneyland, and his own theme park and zoo. But none the less he is the greatest singer and he will be forever.

always a fan of Micheal Jackson

The Micheal Jackson's''HIstory'', is a wonderful album. It shows all of his emotions toward the media, and also some of his more personal emotions. I adore him and all that he does. His songs always make me want to dance, and make me feel great. He is a genius when it comes to business, and song writing. He has come full circle with the media and has took all of the trash talk well. I hope that he comes back with another album as excellent as all of the others. Micheal Jackson is a wonderful person and I hope to be able to meet him one day.
